Feminism and erotica...
I realised my husband was actually a feminist.
Which made me realise, much to my horror, that I wasn't.
There was a long road leading up to this, and a lot of soul searching and realisations. How can an educated woman, who writes erotica, and happily supports all of her friends and family in equality and progress, not actually be a feminist? In a number of ways actually, and although I have addressed them now, and I have changed how I think, it's not an easy road to really understand the depths of how we are conditioned by society and the affect others have on you throughout your life. The issue I was discussing with my husband and others was this.
Random men, some I had passing acquaintance with, others I have never met before, slapping my bottom.
Simple. Laughable. It's nothing really is it? It happens to me and other women quite frequently. Standing on the train, close proximity with a slow brush and squeeze which makes you freeze up. Or walking down the street and a quick 'slap' which makes you gasp in shock, or even in nightclubs or bars when you're dressed up to the nines and the touches are much more lingering as a sign of 'you're attractive', but you just think 'oh they're drunk' and just shrug like nothing happened. I used to think this was normal. Even, if you're chatting to someone and they brush your hand, or arm, and everything about that touch makes your skin crawl. They're just touching your hand right? That's not sexual assault. Or is it?
Where is the respect in such contact? Would I dream of touching anyone else in that manner without their permission? The answer is a resounding no. Male or female, the answer would still be no. As good friends and my husband asserted 'how dare they do that?' and at first I laughed as I thought they were overreacting. And then I saw the look on his face, and the weight of the words. An epiphany. My body, my value as a person was worth more than being viewed as a desirable object or piece of meat. Misogyny as such, is viewed as an old fashioned concept, but actually, in olden times, respect by a gentleman for a woman, wouldn't have found such behaviour acceptable. So why has it changed now? A couple of articles which may give cause to think are listed below... I urge you to read and think about them... It has been something that I have had to re-educate myself in in recent weeks, perhaps it's something that needs addressing more openly now...
A satirical article, but valid look at the flipside...
A shockingly accurate article on how we perpetuate our own image as women...
So how does this affect my writing as an erotica writer? It certainly makes me think more about what I write. I can't change the stories and thoughts in my head, however, I have a feeling these revelations will change what I put down on the page now. We all have fantasies, and of course, that's the point. Equality in today's society, even with our own self-imposed restrictions in some ways, at least allows most of us, this one thing. Freedom of choice. We are allowed a chance to have the dreams and hopes that we harbour within ourselves, even despite hidden barriers that we may not even realise are there until something, or someone stops us and makes us think.
That's what true feminism is about. Not belligerence and fighting which is often lauded by the media, but the strength of respect and freedom. And that goes for everyone, male or female, trans or gay or lesbian. Everyone deserves respect for who they are.

The Mental Side of BDSM
Ah!! Hello there! *waves* I didn't see you for a minute, um, thanks for inviting me, I spill my thoughts here right? Well. Ok then! Welcome to my musings - and my first post for NNP. I thought this particular topic would perfect to explain where my ideas for my stories come from. Although it's a little something I wrote a while ago, this post is full of ideas and questions all gleaned from my experiences and research - so I believe it's still relevant now. Please do feel free to let me know what you think, I do so adore a good debate! So, here goes - the Mental side of BDSM.
BDSM is all about pain right? A good whipping, spanking, flogging, lots of bruises and marks as a badge of honour? For some yes – but there’s more. Much more than just the focus on pain. Through my conversations with those in the lifestyle, I have come to realise that at the core of everything BDSM is the intense mental connection between partners. It’s funny really as my stories have been labelled as ‘soft BDSM‘ due to my focus on mainly the mental and emotional connections that are forged between my protagonists. I agree, whilst I do not write about hard pain, the mental and emotional power exchange between partners, is for me, a much more potent marker of what BDSM represents.
Power exchange happens every day in so called ‘vanilla’ life but it is seen as acceptable if it is even noticed at all. Bullies try to enforce their dominance on people without their consent, others dominate in more subtle ways, and naturally submissive people happily work away to the commands of others. When I realised I was one of these natural submissives a lot of questions about my happiness slotted into place. For example the jobs I’d found most difficult, most stressful, were the jobs where I had no one to please. Making decisions, giving orders and planning wasn’t the problem for me as I am a very organised person, but if I was just managing my own workload, I became unhappy, depressed almost. And then I realised what was happening. I went back to being a PA, and the more people I had to look after, going just that little bit further to make them happy – I was happy. Deliriously so. So where am I going with this line of thought? Dominance and submission within personalities isn’t essentially a sexual thing. It is a marker of our innate characteristics, it is only when we exaggerate these characteristics that the sexual boundaries are explored.
Quite often I feel that the first four terms of BDSM are forgotten in favour of the more glamorous, perhaps salacious and more gossip-worthy last two. Bondage and discipline. Dominance and submission. Where is the beating and whipping and bruising in that? Pain is involved in the Sadism and masochism. Just because pain isn’t involved does not devalue or nullify an experience. I’m not in the lifestyle 24/7. I do not profess to be – but I would point out that astrophysicists do not have to experience the affect of a black hole first hand to know what effects they cause. I observe. I research. I dream. I am a big believer in free choice and keeping your mind open, and through my research I have found that the powerful mental connections associated with bondage, discipline, Dominance and submission are so strong that I am amazed there is so little mainstream written about this.
I have a feeling this debate will carry on in many forms. Anything but pain and severe markings will be nay-sayed as true BDSM, and then there will be those who live a vanilla lifestyle who can’t understand why they don’t feel whole, why there’s something missing from their lives who suddenly find BDSM but can’t understand why it seems right but they don’t have the urge to whip or be whipped… What’s the answer? There is no easy answer – I just have a theory, the start of a theory, it appears to be the answer for me and I explore it in my writing. Some readers have said that what I describe is realistic, and I’ve been asked if I write from experience. Conversely, others have said what I write bears no resemblance to reality. All we can do is explore different perceptions of what the lifestyle means to each of us, and more importantly than anything, continue to learn. To educate others to the diversity of practices that constitute BDSM so that each person can safely find their way to what is right for them. Maybe one day a choice to participate in BDSM will be seen as a respectable life decision, not perceived as an underground, secret and sometimes feared lifestyle

Hi Lila! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to host an interview with you on the Naughty Nights Press blog! I am very excited to share it with our followers!
1. Can you share a few “interesting facts” about your self?
I’ve been a marine wife for fourteen years, lived in several states and Okinawa, Japan, I’m a grandma, I played the clarinet many, many years ago, I know how to crochet and embroidery, oh, yeah—I can tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tongue. ;)
2. What is a typical day like for you? What “pet peeves” do you have, if any?
I don’t know that there is a typical day in my house. I do have certain routines but being a military wife means anything can and will happen especially when the sweetie is gone on “business.” Even though I work from home, I’m up early every day because I go walk with one of my girlfriends around the neighbourhood a few times for the good of my ticker, then I spent the first half of my day doing “business” stuff, usually for my job at Rebel, then I might have a lunch date with another wife, some days we have a bit of shopping, then the afternoons are devoted to promoting myself and writing. Now that’s the smooth version, the bumpy version includes my two dogs and guinea pig and seeing to their needs, helping my son who’s out of the nest with whatever he might call wondering about—this sometimes involves actually leaving my office, and putting out fires where ever they erupt. So far during this deployment I’ve had car problems, my computer went belly up, and I’ve had dryer trouble. I fully expect a major appliance to quit soon. J Pet peeves…my phone.
3. When did you realize you wanted to be an author? How long have you been writing?
I’ve been making up stories since before I could spell, and have been writing ever since I can remember. My actual leap from that to the road to getting published didn’t happen until I was forty however.
4. What was the first fiction you ever wrote? Was it for publication? What reaction did you get?
I guess the first fiction I remember writing was in my sixth grade creative writing class. It wasn’t for publication, but that was the first time anyone expressed to me I might have an affinity for the craft. I owe that teacher a signed copy of something, but I’m thinking the Identity books aren’t what he expected when he said someday I’d be published.
5. What was your goal for yourself as a writer when you started? Did you meet or surpass it or did it change for you along the way?
My goal was pretty simple at that point, get a contract. When it happened on the first try I didn’t know what to think really. It actually seemed too easy and I think that was scarier than the prospect of rejection. My goals now seem to change daily and grow exponentially. But the root of it all is still pretty simple: retain my joy in doing this, don’t let anyone or anything steal my joy.
6. Do you write exclusively naughty erotic fiction?
I do, in fact have two mused that run rampant around my desk. Arwen is the first muse that showed up and has always been my companion. She’s known since second grade what we would write. Through her I channel my vanilla sensual romances. Now Bronwyn, she’s another animal altogether. She’s Arwen’s cousin and showed up one day tapping her tiny spike heeled boot with a whip in her hand. She’s responsible for the BDSM, ménage, anything less than vanilla side of the house. I love them both and wouldn’t know what to do without either of them. As far as sub-genres go, I have dabbled a bit in paranormal and m/m but find I’m not as affluent at those and prefer to stick to what I know and do best.
7. Do you have a ritual to get you ready to write? Something special you do to psyche you up?
If the ritual involves either Arwen or Bronwyn yelling at me to get busy that pretty much sums it up. When my characters start talking I turn on some music, their choice, and we get busy.
8. Where do you write? Does your environment have an impact on what or how you write?
When my husband told me to stay home and write, now was my time, he helped me turn a spare bedroom into a makeshift office. It’s nothing elaborate and my desk is too small, but we move so much I figure it will do until we move again or retire. When we retire I’ll have a real office with a much, much bigger desk. And my environment does have an impact. Everyone that knows me well knows I’m a terrible housekeeper, but when my office gets a bit out of control I have to reel it in or I can’t write period.
9. Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?
I try to write every day. If I can’t come up with new material I will at least re-read what I did the day before and make revisions, sometimes that triggers something new.
10. Which comes first, the story, the characters or the setting?
I play what if. For example, what if a marine were on vacation in Florida and he was on the beach and this woman and four kids walked by. Hhmmm…no daddy in sight—she’s hot for having four kids. Wow, they’re all so small, they don’t look too happy either. Wonder what her story is….Does that narrow it down to one thing, yeah I didn’t think so. What if comes first, then I further define the characters and flesh them out, then they tell me what their problem is.
11. What are the elements of a great erotic romance for you?
A discernable, driving plot coupled with believable, likable characters. If someone just writes and writes rambling on and on about things that have nothing to do with plot and in no way drive the story forward that pretty much kills it for me. Likewise if the characters are weak, have no personality and have no real life issues they need to overcome, I’m likely to put something down and not finish it.
12. What is your writing process like? How long does it take you to finish a story from beginning to end?
I really don’t have a time span that’s definable. I don’t rush, I work for a publisher that doesn’t hold me to strict deadlines so I take my time and make sure it’s as right as it can get before sending it away to my editor. I’ve taken as little as forty five days on something and as long as six to eight months on something else.
13. What do you love most about writing? What do you hate about it?
I pretty much love everything about what I do. I love the process, creating the characters, living with them a while and then knowing my readers got just as much enjoyment out of them as I did. I’d have to say though, letting go of them is the hardest thing—I don’t hate it, but it feels each time a bit like letting my kindergartener go off to school for the first time. Bittersweet.
14. After writing for hours at a time how do you relax?
Relaxing is something I’m working on this year—I’m by nature a worry wart and perfectionist. I walk a few miles a day with a friend, I love bubbles baths and Kindle time, and I live ten minutes from the beach so weather permitting I love spending time there listening to the waves and watching recon marines do push ups in the surf.
15. Is writing your full-time job? If not, how and when do you find time to write?
Writing is my full-time job, but I also have a part-time job as a marketing director for Rebel Ink Press. I’m fortunate in that I have a husband that provides very well for me and I’m free to sit at home and write fantastical erotical stories all day long. Now that’s not to say that house cleaning and cooking doesn’t occasional disrupt the flow of things, but to be honest there was a time back in the spring I thought I might have to call a merry maid.
16. If you weren't writing, what would you be doing?
I have several degrees, so that’s hard to say. I hold a B.S. in both psychology and sociology, an Associate in English and I have a certificate in Pharmacy Technology. If the economy wasn’t in the tank I’d probably be in a pharmacy somewhere or in some advanced training and I’d have forgotten all about my dream of writing—or I might be in nursing, that’s something else I’ve always held an interest in.
17. Is there a specific bit of advice you would give to an aspiring author who is looking to publish their work? Traditional or Self-Publishing, which would you suggest?
I get asked this question a lot and I actually distinguish a third route, e-publishing, a separate entity from traditional publishing. For me traditional publishing means going through an agent and standing on the door of a brick and mortar press for years before they look at you, if ever. That’s okay if you have a connection or that type of patience. As far as self-publishing, I’ve never considered it and wouldn’t. I don’t want the hassle and I don’t want to put anything out that’s not been given the evil eye by an editor. E-publishing has opened the door for so many writers that wouldn’t otherwise have a voice, yet still offers many of the services a traditional publisher does. If you find a good fit you get the benefit of editing and marketing in some cases, which is a biggie because marketing can take up a ton of your time and be very frustrating and exhausting.
18. Can you share a little bit about your current release with us? Where can we find it?
True Identity is book two in the Identity series. Our hero, Marine Corps Colonel Stephan Sachelles has been in the BDSM scene for twenty years, but due to his job he keeps his private life private and has never even considered a permanent mate. Then Jillian Stewart happens along researching BDSM under the guise of writing a thesis paper. She’s a bundle of trouble. I’ll be sharing the blurb and a hot excerpt after the interview.
19. Do you have other published works? If so please tell us about them!
My current works include The Executive Officer’s Wife, Bound By Trust, Destiny’s Fire, A Slower Lower Love, Salvation, Force Recon: Beacon Bayou, and Identity Crisis. The Executive Officer’s Wife was my first baby and Bound By Trust is one of my favorites. I loved writing Madi Melbourne, her story was extremely emotional. Identitiy Crisis is book one in the Identity series, and I’ll be giving away a PDF of it along with a PDF of True Identity today to one luck commentor. Your readers can find all my works at ARe, Amazon, B&N and Bookstrand.
20. Where can your readers find you?
I can be found at my website http://lilamunro.weebly.com , my joint effort website http://www.wickedmuses.blogspot.com or through Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/Lila_Munro You can also contact me via email at lilasromance@gmail.com For more information about Rebel Ink Press please visit their website at www.rebelinkpress.com

You have to leave the city of your comfort…
Jillian Stewart was as straight laced as they came. Or was she? After one man tearing her down to her very foundation, she’s set out on a path of self-discovery. Pursuing a Master’s degree in sociology, Jill’s determined to wrap her mind around the complexities of the BDSM world. Getting into a good doctorate program won’t be easy so she’s pulling out all the stops. After disregarding her professor’s warning against subjecting herself to the lifestyle, Jill finds she’s drawn to her tutor. But this isn’t her world. Is it?
and go into the wilderness of your intuition…
A career Marine Corps officer, Stephan Sachelles has always chosen to keep his lifestyle choices to himself. He avoids the underground house parties on the base to frequent a club miles from home in an effort to protect his privacy. Steph’s been a Master at Steele Image for years and he's enjoyed the company of many of the subs there with no intention of ever settling on just one. How would he make that work…it wasn’t like he could convert his base house into the dungeon of his dreams. Then Jill walks through the door. Steph’s intuition tells him there’s wild abandon inside her fighting for a chance at life. In the depths of her eyes, far behind the over analysis of everything she encounters, Steph sees the heart of a true submissive. But the resistance Jill puts up is driving Steph crazy. While she’s a good student, she just won't let go. Fighting his own internal battle, Steph finds he wants nothing more than to be the only Master to help her find her true identity.
Excerpt:
“Where the hell are we going?” Jill asked sharply, fighting Steph’s grip and trying to pull free every step of the way. When Steph didn’t answer, she started to fear he might be on his way to toss her back out of the club on her ass. As determined as she had been an hour ago to get the hell out of here, she now knew she wasn’t quite done with her little field trip, and in the back of her mind she knew wanting to stay had nothing to do with her damn thesis. “You’re not kicking me out are you?” she gasped as they neared the narrow hallway leading back out to the bar area.
“No, I’m not.” Steph didn’t look at her and didn’t slow down. “But if you intend to stay, you’re going to learn to play by the rules that I give you and not continually mouth off. I realize you obviously can’t contain your curiosity, you get so wound up in picking things apart you forget who you’re talking to, but that’s no excuse for rude, and honey, I’m going to satisfy part of that curiosity right now.”
When Jill realized they were back at the spanking bench, icy fingers of dread clutched her heart and it sped up three-fold hammering her ribcage. He did not intend to spank her. No, a voice screamed in her head, while another one niggled its way in and whispered, yes. Oh God, what was she supposed to do? She didn’t even have one of those safe words she’d read about. Would he even listen to her if she did and used it?
Steph unlatched the red velvet rope behind which the bench and several scary looking paddles and straps of all sorts hung. He stepped through and pulled Jill in behind him refastening the barrier as a few other people started to collect. He was not only going to spank her, but other people were going to watch. Jill’s throat constricted and tears of regret at not being able to do one simple thing, be nice not rude, welled up in her eyes.
“What are the tears about already?” Steph asked, pulling her to the side of the bench. “We’re not even started.”
“I’m sorry, Master Steph,” Jill whispered. “I won’t do it again, Sir.” She glanced around at the people collected and mixed emotions swept over her. First she wanted to die and fall in a hole then she wanted to pull her panties down herself and give her ass willingly to Steph. Damn it! She wasn’t supposed to feel this way. Not here, not now.
“I’ve been watching you very closely, Jill,” Steph said in a less hardened voice. “I know you want more than to just watch. I also know you have limits. I’m quite certain spanking isn’t one of them. Is it?”
Jill shook her head like a puppet being mastered by a string.
“We’ll have a much more in depth discussion of those limits later, as long as you agree right now this isn’t on that list.” Steph waited a few seconds before prompting her. “Jill, answer me.”
“Spanking is not on the list, Sir.” Jill swallowed hard and forced out a few more words. “Please don’t make me take off my shirt.” Her voice audibly shook. The memory of Master Kyle’s fingers gliding over what lay beneath it swamped Jill. If Steph made her take off her shirt in here, in front of all these people, two Xanax wouldn’t enough to bring her back to Earth.
“I won’t,” Steph assured her, running his hands up and down her arms. “Now bend over and put your hands on the bench shoulder width apart. I won’t restrain you this time.”
Jill did what Steph commanded. Once she was bent over, he ran a knee between her thighs and forced them hip distance apart. For a moment he was gone and even though the room was filled with chatter and music, Jill heard the silence his absence caused buzzing in her ears. Then he was bent over with his hand on her shoulder and his face so close to hers she could feel his breath whispering across her throat.
“Look at me, Jill,” he said firmly. “This is important.”
Not wanting him to read her eyes again and see that she had figured out that she not only wanted a spanking but needed it, and from him, Jill stalled.
“Jill. Look. At. Me.”
Jill turned her head and was immediately lost in his eyes. They held her prisoner in that moment and she was quite sure she’d have let him do almost anything to her.
“Do you know what a safe word is?” Steph asked her.
“Yes, Sir.” A voice came out of Jill but she was certain it wasn’t her own. It was some slut’s voice from the past.
“Have you ever had one before?”
“No, Sir,” she squeaked.
“Jill, you’re safe word is red for the rest of the night. If you’re in too much pain physically or emotionally at any time, use it and I’ll stop. Do you understand?” Steph’s eyes never left hers.
“Yes, I understand, Sir.” Jill’s hands nearly slipped off the bench they were so damp with cold sweat.
“Does what I’m about to do trigger that physical danger fear?” Steph asked, running his fingers along her throat.
“No, Sir.” Jill didn’t even hesitate. For some reason, she didn’t feel threatened and she was pretty certain Steph already knew that before he asked. Damn him.
“What’s your safe word?”
“Red, Sir.”
“Good girl.”
Jill squeezed her eyes shut as Steph flipped the end of her skirt up her back and slid her emerald green thong over her hips and down her thighs to hang suspended between her ankles. Great. Now everyone behind them could see her fat ass. That knowledge was worse than knowing Steph would soon spank her. His palms ran over her ass checks and up her spine, then back again, the circles he traced getting smaller and smaller until he caressed only the center most part of her backside as of defining his territory. Just as Jill was caught in the lull of his feather light touch, his hands left her and one of them came down across her right cheek with a resounding pop. Jill surprised herself by staying rigid. The first swat was only a tap for as loud as it was. Steph ran his fingertips over the offended flesh for a few seconds then came down on her other cheek a bit harder.
Nothing. There was no fiery heat pooling anywhere, no electricity licking her insides…Pop! Steph slapped her on the first cheek once more and Jill surged forward. That one hurt and she bit back a grunt. It was then that Steph fell into a pattern. He would strike one cheek soothe it with a gentle stroke then assault the other cheek and repeat, all the while the heaviness of the swats getting more intense until Jill’s ass seared and tears formed in the corners of her eyes. And there was the heat. The blessed heat of arousal settled between her legs and her pussy throbbed and clenched. Steph continued the punishment until Jill was gasping and a steady stream of relief ran down her face, across her lips and down her chin to fall to the floor beneath her head with a sad plop. She hadn’t imagined it. It was quite possible for her to be turned on by pain, and quite real.
Then the spanking ceased. A solitary finger ran down the seam of Jill’s pussy and across her clit then Steph pulled away from her completely. Jill tilted her head to find him once again bent over staring at her. The finger that he’d run over her was under her nose glistening.
“You can’t possibly lie to me anymore, Jill. At least not about this,” Steph told her softly.
Steph smiled at her then slipped his forefinger between his lips and sucked her muskiness from it. Jill’s pussy palpitated with need.

“Identity Crisis is a hot and fun read. I was a little confused at the beginning and how it started out, but the author cleared it up quickly. This is the first story I have read by this author and I am eager to read more. I loved the detail and description, especially when it came to the main characters and what they wanted. The author painted a tale of a rich, spoiled man who finds want he really wants at an unexpected place. I love the fire that Tori has inside of her. Again, the detail, conflict, and overall romance of the story gave you just enough without going overboard. There are also naughty little treats hidden within this tale that will make you need a cool glass of water and a fan.”

Cassandre has included a more detailed list later on in the interview but I KNEW you all would want to know where you could get "Shadows Of Panic & Desire" fast! It is just THAT good!
So go, go, go! Get your copy and then run back here and comment on the post on the things you liked most about it! Or better yet, write up a review on "Shadows Of Panic & Desire" and I will make sure it gets posted up here on the Naughty Nights Press blog too!
Hi Cassandre! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to host an interview with you on Naughty Nights Press. I am so excited to have you here!
1. Can you share a few “interesting facts” about your self? What is a typical day like for you? What “pet peeves” do you have if any? Where DO you get your incredibly hot ideas?
Interesting – I am an accomplished musician and singer. I love animals much more than people and I love to bake (used to own a catering company) and especially love to make all things decadent chocolate but I am completely allergic!
Typical day? This girl owns two companies, a community association management firm and a contracting firm so I to several hours of non-writing work every day. In the evenings I typically market and write for several hours – often outside when it’s lovely.
Pet Peeves? You bet. I don’t suffer fools easily and I tend to tell them what I think!
My naughty ideas come from anyplace and every place. Many of them in my dreams. There is little I can’t turn into a very wicked story. Challenge me…
2. How long have you been writing?
Since I was six, but for the last two years non-stop.
3. Do you write exclusively naughty erotic fiction?
No, I write under several pseudonyms and my work includes a vampire/devil series - In the Shadow of Darkness - under my real name and a campy murder mystery series called Pinked under Dakotah Black. But they all have sensual tones.
4. What was your goal for yourself as a writer when you started? Did you meet or surpass it or did it change for you along the way?
My goal was initially to get back to finishing a book – I did when I was a teenager and then stopped. I met that goal and raced past it. The second goal of course was to get published and now the goal is to get my wicked voice out there to everyone that will enjoy.
5. What is your writing process like? How long does it take you to finish a story from beginning to end?
I am a very fast writer. While I do come up with a story in my sinful little mind and put a handwritten portion on paper, I’ll go back a draft a basic outline and just start. Usually I can finish a long novella – 40,000 plus words in a little over a week. A novel tends to take longer as it’s more complex.
6. What do you love most about writing? What do you hate about it?
What do I love most? Love?? That I can be as wicked and wanton on paper as I want to be. The least? Hmmm…the waiting for either acceptance and to have the book come out.
7. Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?
No real set schedule except that I am burning with ideas and write every free minute I get.
8. Which comes first, the story, the characters or the setting?
Usually I think of the idea almost all the way through in my head and then the rest is history.
9. What are the elements of a great erotic romance for you?
I think that erotic stories already have a bad connotation for writers who don’t understand the passion behind them. I think they have to be filled with a high level of fantasy – we all want that. I also think they have to be believable in that you have to talk and walk like a guy and you need to do research if you are going to have a bit of kink – like using delicious apparatuses for BDSM – you have to know what you’re talking about.
10. What are the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of writing?
Rewarding is seeing the story come to fruition and the most challenging for me personally is that my muse is so creative, I can’t write fast enough. Currently, I have 15 novels, 8 stories and several novella waiting to be edited and that shameless girl just keeps coming up with ideas.
11. Is writing your full-time job? If not, how and when do you find time to write?
As I mentioned – I own two companies so I don’t have the luxury but I can fit it in – nights, weekends, snippets at lunch time and since I am very fast, that helps.
12. If you weren't writing, what would you be doing?
Probably I’d be a veterinarian.
13. Is there a specific bit of advice you would give to an aspiring author who is looking to publish their work? Traditional or Self-Publishing, which would you suggest?
Self publishing is a tough market in a lot of ways still. There are so many wonderful new presses – I would try and go that route for the support system including editors and cover artists.
As far as other advice – consider yourself a writer early and start with the social marketing – facebook, twitter, gathering writing friends for guest blogging, learning about creating press releases and where to go for reviews – YOU are going to have to do a huge majority of the marketing for yourself. And most importantly – WRITE.
14. Can you share a little bit about your current release with us? Where can we find it?
My current release, Shadows of Panic & Wicked Desire is a one of my shorter pieces about a fantasy.
Snake adores his girl, Halle and they are a very kinky couple that will indulge in almost every fantasy they think of. Snake decides to give her the ultimate – three masked men seducing her in the cool waters of a moon-kissed pool in the middle of a very naughty party where the patrons are told to watch…then the little sinful escapade picks up in heat so just imagine.
You can purchase all of my releases at Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble, All Romance E Books, Book Strand and Coffee Time Romance.
15. Do you have other published works? If so please tell us about them!
Currently I have three other releases out: Treats in a Plain Brown Wrapper – about an erotic writer that orders from the internet “tools” of the trade for research and they are always delivered in discrete brown wrapping by her chocolate kissed UPS man – that she has the hots for. One day, she decides to kick up the heat and invites him in to test her toys.
Her Sinful Long Legs – what would you give your man for his birthday IF he has every toy money can buy? How about giving him his ultimate fantasy? A night at a strip club with his three friends where everything goes… Now, I wonder if there’s a kinky twist or two?
Revving Her Wild Engines – what if you met a man on the internet and had a wicked tryst together the heats up the internet lines – and then you decide to meet where he’s going to fulfill your every fantasy including making love on the back of his Harley and a very scintillating threesome? What if you both had a terrible secret that threatened to destroy your new relationship? Could you learn to trust and let go all of your wicked inhibitions?
And coming on April 20th – is the first of my series that crosses two girls – Cassandre Dayne and Dakotah Black using the fictional Flamingo Rustler and it’s man cave, Lucifer’s Lair, as the back drop for very wicked adventures. The first, Wicked Wager Among Friends – Tales From Lucifer’s Lair – what if you had the hots for your best friend but he never gave you the time of day? That’s what happens to Veronica and Travis. Perhaps a little wager of pool and if you win, he’ll be your first to give you sex in the naughtiest most forbidden way but if he wins – you’ll be forced to be his sex slave for two full days. The only glitch? While he tells you he’s bisexual, he’s never been with a woman…and there happens to be a third in the mix.
16. Where can your readers find you?
You can find me in lots of yummy places and I love to hear from my readers!

Ya right! I know it may never happen but if it does girl you count me in!..lol
Oh Gina, you know if and when I ever escape to a sultry island with cabana boys named Raoul and Rico, you're the first female partner I'd call in...what fun is it to have two sexy men all to myself...oh, well, yes, it can be fun but I would want to share you...with them for a short time.
Anyway we could go on, and on...and on about the sexy young cabana boys for a while...or not. There are people here who wanna know about Dawne, not the men...Oh, on to the juicy info...I mean interview! *wicked grin*
1. Can you share a few “tid bits” about your self? What is a typical day like for you? What “pet peeves” do you have if any?
A typical day for me? There is no such thing. Sometimes I wake up at a normal time (generally by 5am) other times I don't sleep at all. When it comes to a typical day of writing it all depends on deadlines, upcoming writing assigments and my part time work schedule. When the mood strikes to write, I'll stay awake for hours into the night to get the scene, story line or dialogue finished.
I spend the early hours of the morning awake alone answering emails, doing some promoting on social networks, checking my normal haunts for freelance writing gigs and cruising through book reviews.
2. When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?
During my freshman year of high school. My English teacher was a tough old cookie and she demanded more from me. She pushed me, made me think about writing and always pointed out simple faults and downfalls in my writing. She basically used a form of reverse pschycology on me and damned if it didn't work. Gotta love that.
3. What part of the story do you think is your strength to write?
Speaking as an erotic author, I would have to say the tension building up to the main sex scene. I love the sexual desire and passion that starts the entire mood. The feelings and emotions that go into that particular scene really affects me and makes me want to share the desire with my words. It's exhilerating.
4. Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?
My earliest memory of writing was when I was in kindergarten and my friend and I write a picture book. She actually found thast book a decade ago and we laughed- I had forgotten all about it.
5. What was your goal for yourself as a writer when you started? Did you meet or surpass it or did it change for you along the way?
My original goal was to just get published. I was hired as a stringer (freelance contributing writer) for a local newspaper. Once I had the taste of seeing my byline I wanted more. Over the years my writing and publishing goals have changed and expanded. I'm always looking for new writing ventures and styles to broaden my hoizons and skill.
6. How did you decide to write books in your specific genre? Was there anything that influenced your choice?
Romance books have been a part of my life since high school so it just seemed to come naturally. I wrote two contemporary romance novels that were published in 2009, then I expanded further and discovered erotic romance. I found my niche in the writing world and am thrilled with my career.
7. How do you become inspired to write?
My imagination plays a large role. Whether it's fantasies, what-ifs or how I'd like to see my love life. I'll sit down at laptop, situate my headphones and listen to rock music. The tempo of the music and sometimes the lyrics get my brain churning and my fingers tapping the keyboard.
8. Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?
I wish it was a schedule but it all comes down to the mood, the muse and time allowance. I write when the mood strikes, when the muse kicks me int he butt or when I have time to get lost in the story.
9. Which comes first, the story, the characters or the setting?
For me it's the basic story then I add in the characters. The setting can be adjusted according to my, and my characters', need. I tend to change the synopsis frequently due to the characters' minds taking over but that's the life of a writer.
10. What are the elements of a great erotic romance for you?
Connection- I know erotic is strong sexual content but all my novels, whether erotic or contemporary, have to display a connection between at least two of the characters. If they fall in love- great. If they just have a sexual relationship- they'll be committed to each other.
11. What are the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of writing?
Most challenging is finding new story lines and not repeating phrases over and over. I mean, how many words and phrases can be used for the male or female anatomy.
Most rewarding is being able to bring someone into my world and let them enjoy themselves for a few hours. Forget their problems and get lost in love and fantasy.
12. Can you share a little bit about your current release with us? Where can we find it?
What's a woman to do when her sexual needs are ignored? Every woman has needs and sexualdesires.
When Rachel's married lover is selfish, she turns to her best friend, Kari, for support and love. A girl's night in turns into a night of explosive passion and
realization of frenzied love.

13. If you weren't writing, what would you be doing?
I've actually never thought about that. Writing is all I've ever wanted to do. I guess if I had to answer I'd have to say it would have to be something in the office atmosphere. I'm an office administrator for a non-profit organization and camp for special needs adults and children. I love my job, coworkers and the campers.
14. Is there a specific bit of advice you would give to an aspiring author who is looking to publish their work? Traditional or Self-Publishing, which would you suggest?
Be persistent and never, ever give up. With every rejection letter or email I received it made me more determined to succeed and prove myself to those that didn't have faith in me.
I have done both- I have five ebooks out now and one self published sex/relationship advice book through smashwords.

Naughty Nights Press Interviews Erotic Paranormal Author Stacey Kennedy! Stacey's Newest Release "A Broken Bond" Will Be Available March 11!
Naughty Nights Press is so excited to have Stacey Kennedy here to tell us a little about herself and her daily routine. She also has a wickedly awesome new paranormal release in just two days!!! "A Broken Bond" will be available March 11 from Amira Press!!
Hi Stacey! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to host an interview with you on Naughty Nights Press!
1. Can you share a few “tid bits” about your self? What is a typical day like for you? What “pet peeves” do you have if any?
I love the paranormal romance/urban fantasy genre and love a series more!! Nothing can hook me in more than an adventure and one that keeps on going. I love a page turner, one where I’m up at a ridiculous time and my eyes burn because I can’t stop reading. Witty characters, dominant men, danger, action, romance and hot sex―oh my!
I am a thirty two year old wife, mom, house cleaner, cook, teacher, play-doh extraordinaire, swing pusher, toddler chaser after – who loves the outdoors, curling up with the latest flick, and if I’m not plugging away at a new novel, I’ve got my nose buried deep in a good book.
A typical writing day for me is up at seven, kids off to school by 8:30, then I write until 12:30 when the little guy comes home. After that I’m back into mommy mode.
2. When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?
My journey as a writer began as a way to keep my brain alive since being a stay at home mom can be a little let’s say numbing. It was an escape from screaming kids, dirty diapers and plain old mom duty.
It started as a hobby, but as the stories progressed it became a passion. Now, I indulge at nap time, especially the juicy bits! Every mom needs a good thrill!
3. What part of the story do you think is your strength to write?
I think I have two really strong points to my writing. The first is sex scenes. They are by far the easiest for me to write. The other, is emotional scenes which I guess is why I find sex scenes so effortless. I’m a very emotional person so I think that side of me tends to come out in my writing.
4. Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?
My first story I ever wrote was, The Willow and I started it in 2009 so it actually wasn’t that long ago. I never had dreams of becoming an author growing up. Now looking back, I can see little signs that pointed to this being my future career, but at the time I just didn’t know it. It wasn’t until the idea for The Magical Sword series came to me did I have any ambition to write a novel. But I’m glad I did because it’s been a fantastic journey.
5. What was your goal for yourself as a writer when you started? Did you meet or surpass it or did it change for you along the way?
Truthfully, I don’t really have writing goals. I just love to write. So, that’s what I keep doing and I hope that my readers continue to enjoy the stories I write. Maybe one day I’ll write a longer story that I can submit to an agent to hit it “big time”, but right now, I’m very happy where I am.
6. How did you decide to write books in your specific genre? Was there anything that influenced your choice?
I only read urban fantasy/paranormal romance, so it wasn’t a hard decision to know that I would write in this genre. I love powerful werewolves and sexy vampires. I can’t ever see myself venturing out into another genre...but I suppose, I should never say never. Who knows what the future holds.
7. How do you become inspired to write?
The characters are what inspire me. I always start out with a simple idea that is a starting off point. Usually after I’ve fleshed out the first three chapters, which I hate doing by the way, I’m captivated and eager to tell their lives.
8. Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?
I’m a panster all the way. I have no schedule, no plan, no plotting. I just sit down with my laptop and write, open to wherever the story wants to take me. Sometimes this creates difficult edits afterwards as I try and weave it all together to make sure everything makes sense, but I just can’t work any other way.
9. Which comes first, the story, the characters or the setting?
It’s always different. For example, with A Broken Bond, an erotic paranormal romance that releases with Amira Press on March 11th, the idea for this story started with the concept of one woman running away from her mate that she refuses and her being saved by another werewolf. So, that simple idea started the story for me.
But with The Magical Sword series, published with Liquid Silver, those stories were all created with one character in mind. I knew exactly how I wanted to portray her. Of course though, I had no clue where the story was going to go until I was writing it.
10. What are the elements of a great erotic romance for you?
If it’s believable. That is all it takes for me. One of my pet-peeves in erotic romance is when people throw around words or actions that don’t suit the characters. I need to believe that the...um...events they are doing are something that the character would actually do. And passion is a must when I’m reading an erotic romance. I want the heat to be smoking off the page. I want to feel the need they have for each other and I want to experience that journey with them.
11. What are the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of writing?
Most challenging for me is edits. They are brutal. By the time I submit a story, I have read it over usually four times. Then, when edits begin I read the story another four times. So...that’s a lot of reading the same story. You can imagine that you begin to hate your own story.
But on the other side of that, it’s the most gratifying when you see your work looking all polished and pretty. When you read through and every sentence flows beautifully with no flaws in the story line―that’s a pretty amazing feeling.
12. Can you share a little bit of info about your current release or upcoming releases with us? Where can we find them?
I’m really excited to share with you all that A Broken Bond – A Wolf Tracks Novel will be released by Amira Press on March 11, 2011.
If you love Alpha werewolves, hot sex and a love story...you'll love this novella!!!
Two years ago, Cash lost his mate and abandoned his Montana pack. Now, he has found a reason to return. Rylie, daughter of the Wyoming Alpha, life has been uprooted. In less than twenty four hours, she has discovered her mate, Layne, refused him, and watched him kill her entire family to claim her. And now, she is on the run.
On her journey to free herself from Layne, destiny brings her Cash, a wolf determined to give her aid to right his wrongs. But how far will he go? When Rylie’s life is on the line, will he forget his pain to save her or will his loss seal her fate?
13. If you weren't writing, what would you be doing?
Spending time with my two young children, hubby and doing mommy things.
14. Is there a specific bit of advice you would give to an aspiring author who is looking to publish their work? Traditional or Self-Publishing, which would you suggest?
Personally, I’d say always go the agent route first. What do you have to lose? Make sure your work is polished and you have a fabulous query letter, then send away. If you get no bites at your work, you can always try e-publishing. I’ve had a fantastic experience with my epubs and I’ve learned so much! If you decide to go the self-publishing route, spend the money and get an editor to look over your work. If you are putting it out there, you want it looking its best.
15. Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? Where can our readers find you?
I love hearing from readers and just chatting normal everyday stuff. So, please come and follow me.
