So thank you to the divinely talented and extremely busy Sharita Lira for allowing BLMorticia and Rawiya to take her over and be with us over the next two days.
Naughty Nights Press
would like to welcome with us today, the extraordinarily diversified talents of
BLMorticia, who is releasing a new
series that sounds absolutely delectable and delicious. The first book in the
series “SOMETHING NEW ON THE MENU”,
is “SOMETHING FRESH SERVED HOT”
NOW FOR ONE LUCKY
READER WHO LEAVES A COMMENT AND THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS, THEY WILL RECEIVE THEIR
OWN COPY OF “SOMETHING FRESH SERVED HOT, BOOK ONE OF THE SOMETHING NEW ON THE
MENU” SERIES BEFORE IT IS RELEASED!
Thank you for joining
us here today, BL. Most people will
already have heard of your name through the amazing amount of blogs that you
guest post on, not to mention the books you have written.
Now just lately I have
been trying to avoid the “tell us something about yourself” question but I
think in this case you have an extraordinary tale to tell. Today though I am
going to make an exception and I am sure the wrath of the Mistress will not be
felt too harshly for it *giggles*
NNP: BL can you
explain to the readers of Naughty Nights
Press, just who and what you are?
BL: I’m the Wicked
Muse of the Triad from Sharita Lira’s warped brain. It includes me, Rawiya,
who’ll sit down with you tomorrow, and Michael Mandrake. The gay male muse. All
of us have our own strengths when it comes to writing or the kind of stories we
like to create. We run this gal ragged! *smirks*
NNP: What inspired
you to write Something Fresh Served Hot
and then do a full five book series?
BL: Well, it all
started with a short, Something New on the Menu that Rawiya actually wrote
first. She and I also had group of interracial gay stories that didn’t have a
real home and so when we figured out they all had something to do with food or what
surrounds a restaurant, donut stand, coffee, whatever, we decided to put together
the series. There is the possibility of a 6th book. We shall see.
NNP: What comes
first, the character or the setting when you begin writing?
BL: Well, between
those two, the characters. The models are picked as soon as the plot is worked
out. Rawiya and I tend to stick with places we know when we write, like Chicago
Illinois, USA. Michael’s the world traveler. Britain, Tanzania… *laughs* The
characters come through those models when we put together our details for the
story.
NNP: What is the main quality you like to see in
your characters?
BL: For me it’s
snark. I don’t mean able to tell a joke, I mean be humorous since I love the
comedy and smart ass-ness in my tales. I want my readers to laugh a little at
some of the things my boys say. The seriousness is totally Michael’s deal. I
must be able to laugh at my characters when they speak at times.
NNP: What type of research do you do for your
books?
BL: Most of my
research is done through porn. *giggles* I mean, I must know if a certain
position can be attempted before I write it. *laughs* Besides that, the net.
For my You Don’t Ask series at Rebel, a lot of study the Army website. I also
bought a book about gay troops. I scour the internet for articles too.
NNP: Can you tell us
a bit about SOMETHING FRESH SERVED HOT
and the SOMETHING NEW ON THE MENU
series?
BL: Besides it being
centered around food or restaurants, all of the tales are contemporary
settings, everyday situations that we have known about or that Sharita has
faced in one way or another. There is no Greasy Spoon diner in Chicago, but
quite a few places in the town that could fit the description. My book is the only non-interracial book in
the series. The rest are all bm/wm tales not that it should be of importance
but like Rawiya, we’d like to see more multi-cultural stories especially where
the stereotypes of not only gay men and gay male minorities are expelled. With
the first book, the MC, Jimmy LaCosta takes those head on, meaning the
stereotypes. He mentions them as well as some of the real man b.s we see spewed
all over the media. In this series, we’ve taken all those and made fun of them
and squashed them as being nonsense. This series is about breaking barriers.
*ahem* I’m sounding like Michael Mandrake now. *smiles*
NNP: Do you have
any other books in the pipeline or due for release that our readers should keep
an eye out for?
BL: For NNP besides
the series, I have nothing yet. I have a few stories to write for NNP. It’s
pretty hard sharing the head with 2 other muses. *laughs* If you don’t mind me
mentioning, my other pub, Rebel Ink , I have You Don’t Ask We Don’t Tell all
gay Army series coming in 2012. Also, My Lieutenant 2 and my V-day story which
is in the works.
Thank you so much for
being with us today BL, it has been
lovely and I just know your series is going to be a big hit.
BL: Thank you so much
Mistress. *curtsies* And thanks NNP for giving the Wicked Gal a shot!
BL
is currently a published writer with Rebel
Ink and Naughty Nights Press.
Her first two novellas, My Lieutenant and Something Fresh Served Hot will be
due out in November. She writes bi weekly for Erotic Diaries with Rawiya and a
column twice a month on Blak
Rayne Books
Something New on the Menu
The Series
In this
series of stories, BLMorticia and Rawiya will correlate the uses of foods and
gay male erotica in a humorous, titillating, and intriguing way. These are well
written tales where the details include something about a certain kind of food
or the setting exists in the food service industry.
Each one
is individually crafted with its own sets of characters in our contemporary
world. In some cases, there is more tension as the protagonists try to accept
themselves as gay men while the others already accept this fact but struggle to
gain the lover they feel they deserve.
All
stories offer humor and eroticism that pushes boundaries while celebrating
diversity in the gay community. This collection is meant to open the eyes to
readers and give them a fresh perspective as told through female authors,
BLmorticia and Rawiya.
Book One
Something Fresh Served Hot
BlMorticia
A gay contemporary
comedy which features a Chicago homophobe by the name of Jimmy LaCosta who
works at a diner called the Greasy Spoon on the northside of
Chicago near BoysTown. While working, Jimmy meets the incoming manager, Alex
Seidling, a young British man who his present boss is hiring to take his place
as he retires.
After the initial meeting
in which Jimmy feels uncomfortable with Alex's stares, Jimmy cultivates a
friendship with Alex which develops into something totally different than he
himself expects. This shocks him and he tries to fight it but because of
his growing feelings he decides to pursue it despite all of what he has been
taught.
Will he do what his body
wants? Will Alex accept his advances even though he will soon become Jimmy’s
boss?
