For Writers, By Writers | Erotica for Dummies

Now, I know none of you are dummies. Erotica for Dummies just tickled me as a title.

Let's talk about it.
As I was thinking of a topic for this Monday's entry, it hit me just how many ways there are to describe erotica in a story.

  • Erotica
  • Erotic Romance
  • Romantica
  • Fiction with strong romantic and erotic elements
  • 18+, Meant for mature audiences only
There are plenty of other places that define these categories, like this article over at Library Journal about Full-Frontal Shelving. Good reading. And everyone here already knows that erotica is not porn. Smart Bitch Sarah over at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books said it best. No need to rehash.

The thing about erotica is that the focus of the story is the sex, right?

Well, kinda.

If that's all it was, then we'd be writing and reading porn, right? But we say erotica isn't porn. So then, why is it erotica?

It's erotica because the story takes us there the same way good foreplay does.

I think everyone who writes romance should read Intimate Behavior: A Zoologist's Classic Study of Human Intimacy by Desmond Morris. It's an oldie but goldie. It discusses the stages of intimacy and the patterns of human behavior learned from infancy. The potential for depth in a relationship fording the uncharted waters of intimacy and sexuality in each interaction is phenomenal for a writer who understands how it all works at such a subconscious level.

Would this level of intimacy be hotter if you knew they just met?
Sex and physical intimacy go way beyond sex. By the time Tab A fits into Slot B, the couple (or threesome, or more, ha!) have covered astonishing ground.

One of the stages of intimacy that always strikes me so powerfully is the 8th stage: Hand to Head. By the time a couple has reached this stage of physical intimacy, they have conquered other tense challenges such as Arm to Shoulder, and Arm to Waist. Oftentimes, they reach the 7th's stage --Mouth to Mouth-- at the same time they reach the 8th stage.

Why is this so important?

Imagine this:
He stepped closer, his features half-hidden in the firelight. The deep russet of his silk waistcoat seemed the color of dried blood in the flickering light. She swallowed hard, trying to still her breathing.

Her heart pounded beneath her breast, and she knew her cheeks must be glowing pink. It seemed she was alight from head to toe. "Y-Your reputation precedes you, Master Kensington." She caught herself twisting her apron into knots and smoothed it down with sweaty palms.

He laughed, a deep rumble that made her insides quiver. "You think you cannot trust me?" Ethan reached out and tucked a stray bit of hair behind her ear. The back of his knuckles traced down the line of her jaw, then tipped her chin up to look at him.

Her stomach was twisting in upon itself, and her knees shook. She backed away a step, out of his reach. "I know I cannot trust you."

Okay, so this is an exaggerated example, but you get the idea. Putting hands to another person's head is a considerable leap in personal space. The head houses the brain. One hard blow can incapacitate and even kill someone. Most people duck their heads when they flinch. It's instinctive. Most of our senses --taste, sight, sound, smell-- are done with organs located in the head.

To allow someone to go there is quite a statement of trust with their physical safety.

As an erotic romance author, I try to give plenty of significance to the levels of intimacy that my characters would find particularly significant, given their individual backgrounds and personal space. A finger traced down the side of a cheek, in the right context, can be more erotic than the moment before a climax involving three penises, one female mouth, seven groping hands, and a rubber chicken.

Not that I have anything against the chicken.

It's all fun and games 'till someone kicks a chicken.

Author AP Miller, full listing of books & book reviews:

Andrew & Patti Miller, AP Miller BOOK REVIEWS

• Tuesday, February 1, 2011 Book Review: Under the Mistletoe by AP Miller

UNDER THE MISTLETOE by AP Miller

4 Flames = SMOKIN HOTSynopsis

Miranda Harris, successful Event Planner in NYC, fears Christmas. Every year she goes home for the holidays single. The men in her life never stay or can't commit. All Miranda wants for Christmas is good man who will love her, without provisions. Then she meets Donnie Brockaway.

Donnie Brockaway is used to getting what he wants. Only problem is that he is forced to take a wife of his Father's approval or risk loosing his inheritance and the merging of the two companies. He wants a union out of love, so when he meets Miranda Harris the sparks fly and Donnie isn't concerned about what his father thinks.

My Thoughts:AP Miller does it right on their newest short story. One thing that draws me to a book is being able to identify with the characters. Every woman can identify with Miranda Harris on some level, mainly because she is showing us glimpses of our own life...some moments better then others. I found it very hard to believe this was only 60 pages long. AP blended this short story perfectly and definately covered all the bases.

Miranda never quite seems to be lucky in love and decides it's time to take action and make some changes...sexy shoes, sexy clothes and maybe doing some detective work when it come to the hunky businessman, Donnie Brockaway, she saw in the paper. But what happens when your dream man moves in next door? and it turns out he's engaged to another woman!

Donnie never thought he'd meet a woman like her, let alone in his buildings elevator; then come to find out she's but one door down. Phermones fly and the air sizzles just being next to her and he's got to make the next move. Wine and pizza in hand he makes his approach, and finds that even her answering the door in cartoon PJs turns him on.

There's so much more to this story then the sexy neighbor and really enjoyable carpet burn. It's erotica with substance, and I liked it.
I'm just glad the full length version will be slated for release in Dec 2011 in time for Christmas.
Keep a look out for more from AP Miller (Andrew & Patti Miller) writing team.

School of Hard Knocks

"Where can I sign up to go to this school?!"The husband and wife writing team of A.P. Miller, writing as LA Andrews, has once again written a sexy, erotic story that pushes the way you think. They take the ordinary idea of a school for girls and turn it into a fun, exciting, 'look for your husband' type of tale.

Head Mistress Chambers grabs your attention from the start, with her very strict and wicked ways. The introduction of Elizabeth and her growth was well written and very believable.

If you are looking for a sexy girl on girl, girl on guy and every way you can imagine kind of story that will leave you hot and bothered, then this is the story for you!!! All I can say is, "Where can I sign up to go to this school?!"

About The Book: What happens when Walt Disney meets the Brothers Grimm in a series of twisted, dark, horror-filled fairy tales in a world of Vampires, Werewolves, Goblins, and the Gnome King.

In the dark forest, Rhed Riding Hood finds her way to Granny’s house. Years later, her passion is awakened by something so dark and sinister that no form of witchcraft can ever prevent. Prince Charming’s Princess is thrown to the ground as her once elegant coach turns into a pumpkin and becomes surrounded by mice at the stroke of midnight. Suddenly Charming isn’t so charming.

Snow White is sent into the woods to be put to death, but the woodsman has other ideas, and the pure step-daughter is thrown into a realm where even evil itself cannot touch her, but becomes her.

Beyond the Looking Glass finds Alice set in an underground world she would never expect through the very nature of it, which forces her to find her way back through Wonderland with the help of the Cheshire cat.

Will you take a look thru the glass to see what pops out?

The Review:

Just about everyone has grown up hearing those wonderful happily ever after fables. Stories set in beautiful worlds with grand characters and loves. What if those worlds were filled with other, darker beings? Who or what would be your favorite?

In Beyond the Looking Glass the reader is treated to a wondrous world full of those dark creatures and desires. Snow white is no longer so pure after the woodsman has come to her. Prince Charming leads in a very different way and will have his woman no matter what. While visiting her grandmother Rhed Riding Hood finds her dark side. Alice finds herself in another world full of things she never even thought existed.

Although every story is a good read in itself, Rhed Riding Hood’s story would have to be my favorite. Rhed grows into a strong and smart woman who takes her life into her own hands and decides to get what she wants and needs. Learning from her grandmother to respect the forest as well as protecting those that dwell there. Rhed decides she is tired of being alone and goes after what she desires.

Each of the stories are fast-paced and well-written, piquing the readers interest and making them want to know more about the characters and their world. I truly enjoyed these stories and would love to see more takes on many of the other old tales. These stories have a great partnership of horror and eroticism that make for an enjoyable read.

• GOOD GUYS DESERVE BAD GIRLS
5 STARS FROM ROMANCE AT HEART

AP Miller’s latest release. Good Guys Deserve Bad Girls is a must read, and a definite keeper to those of you who enjoy a bit of spice.

AP Miller has once again titillated us and at the same time tickled our funny bones with Good Guys Deserve Bad Girls, a tale of an innocent and a demon.

Silly, sleazy, campy, and totally delightful, Good Guys Deserve Bad Girls is a strange and wonderful tale about a pious young man, his Guardian Angel, and a demon succubus named Pathrusim, Patti for short. Andrew saves Patti from demon hunters, but she in turn falls for him. Wacky, yes, but when heaven and hell clash over the soul of a Succubus, things happen that you won’t believe. In the meantime, the little succubus tries all her erotic wiles on Andrew, who puts up with her trials, and plays as if they are only games. But when she tries to pull a real switch, Andrew calls her hard on it, and Patti caves, and not just once either. Time and time again, she is unable to pull him in. The ending is not what you might expect, so you know the drill…and don’t worry, you will NOT be disappointed.

Yours in good reading,
Rose!

LIBRARIANS DONT GET MARRIED
5 STARS FROM ROMANCE AT HEART

In this sexy romp, Librarians Don't Get Married by AP Miller, we meet a town of free-thinking and free-loving people who have one major obstacle. Their exclusive mate-swapping club might be exposed by one maidenly, prudish grump by the name of Grundy, and it is to this end they conspire to face their foe. Heidi, the Doctor, some prominent business men and others are a fun and kinky set who are in it for the sex, and the real love they can share with their play. For those who enjoy a very kinky read, this is definitely one you will enjoy. I found it fun, lighthearted, and a very entertaining read and I think for those open-minded readers of erotic romance, it is a great addition to your bookshelves.

BEYOND THE LOOKING GLASS
5 STARS FROM ROMANCE AT HEART

Clearly a horror filled fantasy novel, an observation noticeable just from its cover Beyond the Looking Glass is highly entertaining, wickedly thrilling and skillfully chilling. Reader’s will enjoy the rousing lascivious twists on their favorite fairy tales, although searching for obvious disparities between the “age appropriate” versions. AP Miller maintains just enough of the known cast’s characterization and story line, so creating an illusion of expected normalcy, only to quickly turn them feral, sinister and oh so erotic. At first, it’s shocking but deliciously fun soon afterwards exposing the earthy carnal appetites of weres and vamps, then showcasing the seductive allure of leather and dominance. An anthology that cannot be pushed aside by any horror enthusiasts who enjoys eroticism with their tales of terror.

AP Miller is the pen name for writing husband and wife team Patti and Andrew Miller, both widely published authors in various newspaper, magazine and of course, novels.

MANAGEMENT TRAINING

5 STARS FROM JERR!

AP Miller has a hot winner in MANAGEMENT TRAINING. The story takes the reader on a fantastic trip where nothing is as it seems; taking several issues that may seem less than romantic but are hot and steamy in their capable hands as a writer. Beverly has never sat back and let things happen. Once she has figured out she wants Mark she is as mean and as nasty as she can be. Mark responds by taking the punishment and drawing out of her the pleasure and degradation she needs in order to free her self from the stress of the day. Mark’s secret was a surprise but it was written perfectly for the book, playing with precision the romance. This book isn’t for the reader who wants a typical romance that doesn’t involve any raw power exchange. If you want a great hot read with a few twists then this is the book to buy!

• LONE HUNTRESS
Lone Huntress Title: Lone Huntress

Author: AP Miller

Publisher: Carnal Desires

Genre: Science Fiction Erotic Romance

Publication date: 2009

Rating: (4.5)

Heat rating: 4

Reviewer: Raashema

As the name implies, Lisa Huntress is a hunter. To be more precise, she is a green-haired cyborg bounty hunter, maybe the best of her time. But underneath the armor and the tough-as-steel emotional shields is a small child held captive in the prison of her past.

The road to Bounty Hunter extraordinaire was not an easy one. As a child on the hostile planet Gaia, Lisa and her Tribe fought many environmental hazards and carnivorous fauna None could compare though to the band of pirates that descended from the skies, bringing death and destruction to all but Lisa, whom they kidnapped, held captive and abused for over a year. Her subsequent rescue and later adoption by Materson, also a bounty hunter, would begin the last chapter in the development of Lisa Huntress, Bounty Hunter Extraordinaire.

Each of us is only the sum of our life experiences. AP Miller has created a unquestionably emotionally charged space odyssey that highlights one woman’s search for happiness in a world that is extremely critical of women’s beauty and their place in society. We are shown her life in small snapshots that illustrate her emotional triumph as she moves closer to true happiness and learns to trust and accept herself. Lone Huntress is a simply luscious, thought provoking treat that will be remembered long after the last page has been read. You will find yourself looking at society and life in a more critical light. I, for one, can hardly wait for the next installment. So, if you want an erotic sci-fi that is thought provoking, as well as engaging, this should be a definite buy.

• "A Six Part Futuristic Joy Ride"Lone Huntress:

• Introduces us to a Cyborg Bounty Hunter named Lisa Huntress. She is feared and famed for her cruelty. Her latest mission is to pick a Live bounty by the name of Romeo, a projective telepath. But Romeo has bitten off more than he can chew when he messes with Lisa's dreams.Genesis of the Huntress:

• Brock Masterson rescued Lisa when she was 12 from the Pirates who had eliminated Lisa's home planet, and took her hostage and tortured her for a year. Can Brock pull her out of her depression and offer her a new way of life?Beauty and Beholders:

• After a meeting with the infamous "Pink Barron", who works for the FIA, she is offered a well paying job. If she can prove herself, then she will be put on the FIA's list for bounty hunters. Only the best get to be put on that list. Lisa wastes no time in accepting, but a simple assignment turns out to be a little more than she thought.Love and Hate:

• While in a library Lisa meets Sara. Sara is not afraid of the way she looks or afraid to talk to her. What started out as a friendly conversation turns into something Lisa did not expect. As their relationship goes to new levels, there are things that Sara is not telling Lisa.Family Ties:

• While on board her ship, Lisa Huntress gets a transmission from the Queen of Furcodia. They require her services as an exterminator. The experience offers a interaction with a race Lisa has never come across before. What is supposed to be a simple extermination turns into something more.Therapy:
Taking some advice, Lisa Huntress decides to go for some therapy. What her therapist, Keven see's when Lisa first walks through the door is a shy girl, with unvoiced hope. He knows he can help her. What Lisa finds is someone who understands her, and she finally feels she has found love, but would that require her to give up hunting?Wow! Lone Huntress tells the story of Lisa Huntress, a cyborg, and all of the trials she goes through in her life. From her first experience after being rescued, and her first love, her first f/f. A.P. Miller does a wonderful job of making us feel as if we are there with Lisa. With vivid detail describing her suroundings, as well as her emotions. You really feel Lisa's fear, anger and pain. The love scenes are smoking hot and very detailed. Over all an engaging read with a well thought out plot, and a memorable character in Lisa. A.P. Miller does it again!!!! Reviewed by Missy Brown

Ap Miller The Boogedyman
By A.P. Miller

A.P. Miller brings to light the question, "What if the boogeyman
was real" and the terrifying knowledge "What if it was you?"
This husband and wife writing team will pull you into Murray's world of
nightmares, and fear. Leaving you wondering, right along with Murray,
what is happening and is this real?
A.P. Miller has done a wonderful job of connecting the reader with Murray, you will be rooting for him, all the while asking yourself "Is he really the bad guy? Overall I
feel that "The Boogedyman" delivers a well thought out scary plot, and I
can promise you one heck of a good read!

Good Guys Deserve Bad Girls

This work combines the smoldering sensuality of well-written erotica with the nail-biting suspense of an edge-of-the-seat thriller. When the final page is turned, the space between these two disparate traits is filled with a deep caring... for the characters, and an eagerness to find out how their lives (and afterlives?) will continue to pan out. Sequel, please? Stevie-C reader

Erotic Author Avril Ashton Joins Gina Kincade For An Interview And Info On Her Newest Release "One Wicked Night"!!

Hi peeps and welcome to the Naughty Nights Press blog today! I am very excited to have Avril Ashton here with me to share a little about herself, her career as a writer and info on her naughty new release "One Wicked Night"!

Rumor has it she actually brought along some interesting reading for us too! *does a happy dance* Woot Woot!

See and I can tell already that my TBR pile is gonna get longer after tonight..Geesh, that sucker is gonna topple on me soon! lol

Ok, Ok! I shall get on with it..Yes, I know that is just what you were thinking! Yes you! *points to Cassandre hiding behind her monitor* Yeah, I saw ya hunny! *naughty grin*

Hi Avril and welcome to Naughty Nights Press blog. We are thrilled you could join us here today and can’t wait to share some information about your and your writing with our followers!

1. How long have you been writing? And have you always wanted to be a writer?

I’ve been writing seriously since the summer of ’09. I’ve always loved books, and reading, even wrote short stories and poems in school, but I never dreamed of writing seriously until late ‘o8

2. To date, what has been the best advice or words of encouragement you've received?

When I decided to really buckle down and write, I checked out all the books on writing out of the library and read them. They confused me more, so I emailed the president of the local RWA chapter in a panic out of the blue, asking for any advice she could give. To my surprise, she responded, just write. I haven’t stopped since.

3. What are three things about you that might surprise yours fans?

I’m a hermit, I hate cooking, and I love eating.

4. What genre(s) do you write? And what made you choose this it?

I write erotic-romance with a little bit of everything including suspense and paranormal, just now wetting my feet in M/M. I didn’t choose any of it, the entire thing chose me.

5. How do you decide on your storyline? Is there a specific thing that might set you to thinking of your next book plot?

I don’t plot, I’m a total pantser. And anything sets me thinking of my next plot—music, food, clothes. High heels…hmm.

6. How do you name your characters? Decide on where a story takes place?

Gosh, I love coming up with character names, I like them unique. You won’t find a Tom or Jane in my stories any time soon. Whenever I hear/see a name that’s out there, not the norm, I file it away until I can pull it out. I write my stories without naming a physical setting, then find a place after the story is done. I make whatever setting I choose fit the story instead of the other way around.

7. What do you love most about writing? What do you hate about it?

I love writing. The click of my fingers as they fly over the computer keys. I adore the way the pictures in my head forms into words on the page. I love getting choked up and feeling, just feeling, as I write. I hate anything that doesn’t involve what I just mentioned.

8. What are the elements of a great erotic romance for you?

Oh man, I love this question. A great erotic romance is one that marries romantic love, hot and dirty sex, with a unique plot and amazing, stomach churning angst. In my view LOL

9. Is there a specific bit of advice you would give to an aspiring author who is looking to publish their work?

Write because you can’t bear not to. Read for the same reason and do your research on the business. Keep doing it.

10. Can you tell us a little about your newest or upcoming release? Where can we find it?

Sure, luckily I brought along a blurb of One Wicked Night *g*

BLURB: Justice Alexandre kills for a living. A lover of the shadows, he makes no excuses for what he does. Besides, people bore him. He has no use for them…until a hot summer night in a Toronto nightclub. A woman with misery in her eyes whispers three words in his ear, shattering his world like shards of crystal at his feet.
She wants to lose herself—or maybe find herself, Myka Prentiss can’t readily decide. What she does know is the dark stranger hugging the shadows at the back of the club calls to her in ways she can’t explain. Putting fear aside, accepting the heady pull, she makes her move and asks for one nameless night. Nothing between them but hot sweat and tangled sheets.
He accepts.
When they’re done, she walks away, wanting more. Back to an unfulfilled life, she’s comforted only by her memories…until her dark stranger shows up at her door with an announcement.
He’s been hired to kill her.

As of now, One Wicked Night is only available on my publisher’s site: http://tinyurl.com/3hqx4yv

Excerpt:

Once outside, Myka stood against the exterior wall of the club and waited. The whisper of cool air on the nape of her neck felt like a lover’s caress. She crossed her arms over her chest, then changed her mind and let them hang loose at her sides.

He wasn’t coming.

What was she thinking? She shouldn’t have approached him, but she’d wanted to prove her life was still her own. Pretend what she’d overheard wasn’t true, and her father hadn’t sold her to the highest bidder for a senate seat. But he had and here she was, grasping at anything to dull the pain.

The doors opened and Mr. Dark stepped outside. Breath left her body, her spine tingled. His gaze clashed with hers as he approached like a lion stalking its prey. Dark clothes cloaked his bulky frame—leather jacket, shirt, jeans and boots. His features looked like they’d been chiseled from the finest, darkest chocolate. Sharp, dark and smooth. He had high cheekbones, slanted eyes, and just a hint of stubble on his square jaw, framing full lips made to kiss and taste. A voice in the back of her head yelled run, but she ignored it. She sensed he’d like the chase.

He stood in front of her, chest to chest, and placed a hand on the wall behind her. Then he leaned in, licked her earlobe and caught it between his teeth.

Her breath hitched, knees wobbled. A whimper left her throat as her pussy flooded.

“You beckoned?” A Caribbean accent gave his deep voice an exotic flavor.

Nipples hardening, Myka stayed with the bold approach. “I want you. Under me, on top of me, but definitely inside me.”

Erotic Paranormal Romance Author Marisa Chenery Interview On Naughty Nights Press Blog Today!! Come And Find Out What It's All About!

Marissa Chenery joins me, Gina Kincade, on the Naughty Nights Press Blog today to tell us a little personal information about herself and her new release "Foreseen Hunger" availible March 2nd from Ellora’s Cave!

Hi Marisa! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to host an interview with you on Naughty Nights Press!

1. Can you share a few “tid bits” about your self? What is a typical day like for you? What “pet peeves” do you have if any?

I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband and four children. I’m stay at home mom as well as a writer. My typical day is making my school runs in the morning, writing after lunch, a school run in the late afternoon and then writing again after dinner. I don’t really have any pet peeves.

2. When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?

I think I was around 17 years old when I first decided I wanted to write.

3. What part of the story do you think is your strength to write?

I think my characters and world building are my strength.

4. Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first story?

I was 17 when I started to write my first book, which I never finished. It wasn’t until I was 29 did I write and finish one. It’s called Lady Knight and is published at Siren Publishing.

5. What was your goal for yourself as a writer when you started? Did you meet or surpass it or did it change for you along the way?

My goal was to see my books published. Plus being a writer was the perfect job for me, allowing me to stay home with my kids. I did meet it when I learned about epublishers and received my first contract back in 2007.

6. How did you decide to write books in your specific genre? Was there anything that influenced your choice?

When I first starting writing I wrote historical romances, because that was what I mostly read at the time. Now I’ve made the switch to paranormal romances, which I mostly read as well.

7. How do you become inspired to write?

It was just something I enjoyed doing. I inherited the writing bug from my father.

8. Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?

I do have a set schedule. I write once after lunch and once after dinner, both times between an hour and a half to two hours. I try to write around 2,000 words a day.

9. Which comes first, the story, the characters or the setting?

I usually come up with a story idea first, then the setting and finally the characters.

10. What are the elements of a great erotic romance for you?

A great erotic romance has to have great romance along with well written sex scenes. The hotter the better.

11. What are the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of writing?

The most challenging would be submitting to publishers and then having to wait for an acceptance or a rejection. The rewarding aspect would be hearing from my readers telling me how much they love my books.

12. Can you share a little bit about your current release with us? Where can we find it?

My current release will be out at Ellora’s Cave on March 2nd. It’s the 6th book in my popular Ra’s Chosen vampire series called Foreseen Hunger. You can find it on EC’s website here http://www.jasminejade.com/ps-9127-50-foreseen-hunger.aspx.

13. If you weren't writing, what would you be doing?

I would more than likely still be a full time stay at home mom. I’ve been home with my kids since my first was born.

14. Is there a specific bit of advice you would give to an aspiring author who is looking to publish their work? Traditional or Self-Publishing, which would you suggest?

The best advice I can give is keep writing and not give up. I suggest Traditional, epublishers in particular. This route your book gets fully edited and receives some great cover art.

15. Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? Where can our readers find you?

Readers can find me at my Websitewww.marisachenery.com

About "Foreseen Hunger"

Book six in the Ra’s Chosen series.

Takan has hidden who he is for three thousand years, but the time for secrecy is coming to an end. He knows it, and more importantly, Ra knows it. To complicate matters, Takan has found his mate. And she means more than happily-ever-after and smokin’ hot sex. She’s the key to the Chosen ending Apep’s threat to the mortal realm. Too bad Takan, and who he is, scares the bejesus out of her.

Falon lost her love years ago to the bite of an undead and has spent her nights hunting the creatures ever since. When she happens upon a man fighting the same fight as she, relief overcomes her. She’s not alone. But when she kisses him and discovers his fangs, she does what any warrior girl would do—she stabs him.

Just as they are coming to terms with their relationship, Ra drops a bomb that changes Takan forever, and Falon discovers her true destiny. The couple must come to terms with their new beginning, while bringing an end to an age-old battle.

“You’ve fought the undead before,” he said in a deep, slightly accented voice.
“The undead? Is that what you call those creatures?”
“Yes. For that is what they are—undead.”
It made sense, since they decomposed so quickly once they were taken out. Remembering what he’d first said about her having fought the creatures before, she pulled herself up straighter. “It’s not the first time I’ve come across undead.”
His intense gaze looked her up and down, causing the ache in her pussy to increase. With him standing so close, she found it a fight not to reach out and see how hard his body was, especially in the area between his legs that seemed to be sporting an interesting bulge.
“The sword,” he said. “How did you know bronze is an undead’s weakness?”
She shrugged. Falon wasn’t about to tell this stranger she’d dreamed of a man’s voice two nights before her first hunt, telling her she needed a bronze sword and where she had to go to get one. And she for damn sure wouldn’t tell him her sword had already been forged, paid for with her name on the sales receipt when she’d gone to the place the voice had sent her.
When he seemed to wait for an answer, she said, “I just knew.”
“You’re very good with a sword.”
“I’ve had lots of practice.”
Silence fell between them when he took another step closer. His gaze seemed to focus harder on her, and Falon felt as if she’d become sucked into it. Unable to pull away, she didn’t move when he reached across them and placed his hand on the left side of her chest, directly over her heart.
He drew in a breath and then said almost reverently, “Falon.”
The sound of him saying her name shot a jolt of arousal through her. Her blood heated even more when an image of him and her naked, their bodies straining against each other as they had sex filled her head. It abruptly disappeared when she gasped sharply.
A few more seconds passed before he lowered his hand and clamped it around her wrist. “You’re the key,” he said.
Falon quickly tried to pull her wits together when he took a couple of steps back, taking her along with him. “What? What key?” When he didn’t answer and continued to drag her along, even though she dug in her heels, she yanked at her arm. “Stop. Where do you think you’re taking me?” she demanded.
“Where I can watch over you.”
She struggled harder. “I don’t think so. I don’t need anyone to watch over me, especially not some strange man I just met.”
He suddenly stopped walking, causing her to almost slam into his back, and turned to face her. “I’m not some strange man. My name is Takan, and you are mine.”
The possessiveness in his voice caused her pussy to clench, but the saner part of her didn’t like what he’d said…at all. Before she could think of a way to get free, Takan yanked her close so she slammed against his chest, released her wrist and buried his hand in her hair at the back of her head. His lips descended, taking hers in a kiss that just about turned her legs to jelly.
Falon didn’t normally get swept away by a man’s kiss, but with Takan it felt as if her world centered on him, all her senses attuned only on the man who held her. The scent of the cologne he wore filled her nose with each breath she took. The feel of his hard body had her resisting the urge to rub up against him. And the way he took her lips, it was no gentle exploratory kiss. It was filled with raw hunger and need, causing her to libido to soar even higher.
She kissed him back, reaching up to put a stranglehold on the front of his t-shirt while she kept the sword in her other hand pointed down at her side. When his tongue swept along the seam of her lips, she opened to allow him entrance. The feel of it twining with hers, stroking and tasting, had her becoming more excited. Pressed as she was against him, Falon felt the unmistakable ridge of his erection nestled along her belly.
A soft moan rose from her. And when Takan sucked her tongue into his mouth, she clutched his shirt tighter. She explored, stroking the roof of his mouth before running her tongue along his teeth. He groaned when she touched a rather pointed tooth. Falon shifted to the other side and found a match. Given how pointed and sharp they felt, the teeth had to be fangs.
Her mind whirling with the thought she actually kissed one of the creatures, the undead she sought to destroy each night, Falon acted as if she was still into his kiss. Slowly, so as not to alert him to what she did, she lifted her sword arm, pulled it back and stabbed the tip into Takan’s stomach. With a grunt of pain, his hold loosened and Falon pushed him away, taking a step back to watch him start to decompose.
But when Takan only pressed his hand against his stomach and it came away red with blood, Falon shook her head. Had she made a terrible mistake? She shook her head again. “How can you be bleeding? You have fangs. I felt them. You have to be one of those creatures, only a type I’ve never seen before.”
“I bleed because I’m not one of the undead. I’m very much alive.”
Falon backed away. “Then what are you? A vampire? You aren’t exactly human. You’re still standing. A normal person would be down for the count after receiving a belly wound.”
“It takes a lot more than this to take me out.” Takan took a few steps toward her, but stopped short when she held her sword in front of her. “It’s all right, Falon. I won’t hurt you.”
He smiled as if to reassure her, flashing the fangs she’d felt while they’d kissed. The horror of the night five years before came rushing back. Inside her head, all she saw was what she’d thought had been a man lunging at her as he tried to bite her with sharp fangs. Even worse was the image of her boyfriend having his neck torn into by the very thing she’d barely managed to escape.
Fighting the fear that threatened to take her over—something she hadn’t allowed to happen since that horrific night—Falon spun on her heel and fled. Without looking behind her to see if Takan followed, she ran as fast as her legs would carry her.

Interview with Vampirique Dezire, Debut Author of "A Forced Witness", on Naughty Nights Press Blog Today!

Naughty Nights Press is excited to interview Vampirique Dezire, author of "A Forced Witness" to be included in the anthology Gotta Have It: 69 Stories of Sudden Sex to be released tomorrow February 1st!!!

Hi Vampirique! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to host an interview with you on Naughty Nights Press today! I am so excited to have you here!

Hi Gina and thank you so very much for having me, I feel very honoured to be one of your interviewees *huggles n kisses*

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Well I am 42, very happily married to my childhood sweetheart for the past 24 years this April. I have 2 handsome sons, one of whom is engaged to be married to a girl whom I love as a daughter. I have the most adorable grandson who is extremely excited to be turning 4 this year *smile*. We all live together as a combined family, which can be fun, especially when I want to write. Then there are the 2 dogs and our 19-year-old cat who believes he is the ruler of the home.

Apart from being extremely proud and biased about my family, if I am not spending time with them, then I am writing, reading, doing book reviews or hanging out in Facebook , yes darling one’s I’m a Facebook addict and proud of it, which I’m sure Gina will agree with *wicked giggle*

2. When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?

You know that is a truly interesting question and one that I have just had to think carefully over and even talk about it with my husband Shane. I suppose in the back of my mind I have always had the dream of becoming an author but never knew how to find the ones who could help me or how to go about submitting to any type of publishing house. Then I met you Gina and well if it wasn’t for your support and encouragement, I would not be sitting here now with you in this interview. So that said perhaps the last 2 – 3 years.

3. Can you please share with us how old you were when you wrote your first erotic story? Did you share it and if so how was it received?

*giggles* I wrote my first erotic story when I was in my late twenties, early thirties and yes I did share it as at the time I used to write them for friends who requested specific fantasies, they would then show their friends and I ended up being inundated with requests to write stories for individuals.

My first real foray into writing erotica would have been when I was about fifteen and Shane and I had already been dating for three years but due to the fact that we lived three hours apart, we would send each other letters every week (yes back when there was no such thing as computers for communications) and I would describe to him what I wanted to do to him when we met on the following weekend.

4. What was your goal for yourself as a writer when you started? Did you meet or surpass it or did it change for you along the way?

My first goal was to actually write something that could be read and enjoyed. Then it did change as it become a goal to have at least one story published and that has certainly been surpassed now *laughs*
Now my goals tend to be on length of story, submitting as many as I am able to and I am still working on that but most of all, to make sure that a story I write is not only enjoyable but able to paint the image of what I am writing about in the readers mind. Plus I want my name to be as well known as Anis Nin (delusional thoughts but good ones to aspire too)

Learning new things all the time about writing, helps to enhance my writing and I try to put into practice what I have learned from critiquing, other writers, writing information on the web etc.

5. How did you decide to write stories in the erotic genre? Was there anything that influenced your choice? Are there any other genres that you write or have dabbled in?

I think I just fell into erotica to be honest. That and the fact that I have a very vivid imagination and loved reading books that got my juices flowing so to speak and to be honest, I think I am fairly good at it!
I haven’t written in any other genres...yet! Down the track it would be nice to do a romance or children’s book but at the moment I am going to just keep to the on e genre I know.

6. How do you become inspired to write? Is there someone who inspires you?

I am an avid people watcher and sometimes I can see someone and wonder what their bedroom story would be and off I go. Other times it can be a conversation I am having with someone, a scent, food, song...in fact anything.

The person who inspires me the most though is Shane, I love seeing him naked and imagining doing all types of things with him and having him do all those wonderful, sensual, erotic things that make my body quiver and scream out for more.

7. What are the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of writing?

Most challenging would be the first paragraph. If you cannot hook your readers in that first paragraph then you are not going to be able to grab them in the rest of the story.

The most rewarding aspect has to be when your peers compliment you on your work and are not just being nice about it.

8. What part of the story do you think is your strength to write?

I think it would be my descriptions of what is happening. I like the reader to be able to see in their mind what myself and my characters can see. It gives a feeling of being involved.

9. What is your favourite genre to read in, and does it have an impact on the stories you write?

Oh wow, I don’t think I have an actual favourite genre as I love to read anything that is good. That said, I have read repeatedly and own the entire Vampire Diaries set by Anne Rice as well as the Mayfair Witches books. I also love Patricia Cornwell’s Dr Kay Scarpetta, she is such a strong, yet fragile character. Fantasy books, horror stories, romances, the occasional autobiography, right down to children’s books and the classics like Shakespeare.

The impact on my writing is that I keep an open mind and like to introduce different aspects you would find in other genres. For example I am currently writing a short story called Death by Grammar, where it involves erotica and murder. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I am able to pull it off.

10. I understand you had two of your short stories accepted by different publishing companies in just short of a week. How did you feel when this happened? Did you expect it to happen eventually or was this a complete surprise to you?

Shock, elation, and surprise, overwhelmed and overjoyed, excited, stunned, teary, laughing hysterically...basically any other word that would fit the descriptive state of joy.

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect my very first submission to be accepted let alone have two accepted within a week. It truly was a dream come true. I think it validated the fact that I could write and people who did not know me from Eve thought I could too.

11. Can you tell us a little bit about the book that your first acceptance is to be in? It is to be released very soon is it not? Do you have a direct buy link for our readers to get it when it is released?

I would love to tell you about the book. It is called Gotta Have It: 69 Short Stories of Sudden Sex and it is edited by the wonderful and truly awe inspiring Rachel Kramer Bussel and Cleis Press.
The anthology has 69 writers involved, with each story being no more than 1200 words long. Each writer has written about different scenarios and apparently they do range all over the place, from mine, which is a B.D.S.M story (A Forced Witness).

“These stories aren’t all about quickie sex, though there’s plenty of that. There are strangers who meet and know right away they must have each other, neighbours, travel mates, coworkers and long-term couples such as those in “After Ten Years” and “Remembering the Wrinkles” who are looking for ways to hold on to that spark. There are stories of sex in libraries, vacation sex and lots of outdoor sex—in the rain, in the street, all over. There are lovers with pecan rolls dripping in caramel, and meals where lovers feast on nothing but each other. There are even a few stories with no actual sex in them at all, you’ll have to hunt those down and see why anticipation can be the sexiest act of all.”

Gotta Have It: 69 Stories of Sudden Sex, is due for release on February 1st and is available for pre-order through these following places:

12. Where do you hope to go from here in respect to your writing? Will there be a book someday?

I want to be able to do a series of Novella’s involving a main character/s and their sexual escapades and yes there will be a book. I have been working on one for the past 12 months now and as I am extremely anal retentive about making it exactly right with little or no editing to be done, it is taking me a very long time but it is a labour of love and I am hoping it will end up being a book that people will not only enjoy but will know the name if someone else says it.
I know you Gina have already had a peek at the start of it.

13. Is there a specific bit of advice you would give to an aspiring author who is looking to publish their work? Traditional or Self-Publishing, which would you suggest?

I was once advised by truly sexy lady, that before you send anything in for submission, that you need to read your work, read it out aloud, read it again, fix up any mistakes you may have made and then read it again. *wink*

But most importantly, write as much as you can, join a writing group that is supportive and can give critique and take the critique, don’t argue with the person who has taken the time to go through your work, you may not agree with them but you also don’t have to use every bit of advice your given either.

When you are ready to submit, make sure you know what the publisher’s guidelines are in regards to font, size, formatting, how they want the manuscript sent and in what format of word if by email. Write a mind blowing 3rd person bio and have someone check it over. If you need to write a synopsis of the story make sure you don’t tell the entire story or give away the ending in it.

Do try and go with a traditional publisher, like Naughty Nights Press because then you have access to editors who will help you polish up what should already be a fairly spelling/grammar error free piece of work.

The added advantage is that you write and they organize everything else PLUS it doesn’t cost you a cent.

If you are prepared to self publish, you will find that you will have the added stress of organizing all the printing and advertising on top of concentrating on your writing, which should come first.

14. Is there anything else you’d like to share with your readers that we might have missed here today? Where can our readers find you?

Just remember that everyone has a story to tell, it is how you weave the words that will make it memorable or not.

New Marketing and Research Director for Naughty Nights Press!

Naughty Nights Press excitedly welcomes the sexy, knowledgeable and very talented Ms. Vampirique Dezire to our new management team, as our new Volunteer Marketing and Research Director!

A recently published author, Ms. Dezire will head operations for the search of both aspiring and established authors to join the NNP writing team in addition to her duties for marketing both current and new releases for the NNP authors.

Ms. Dezire began as a hobby writer with a forum of her own and the challenge of writing personalized fantasy work for friends upon request. After meeting with like minded authors and individuals, Ms. Dezire has cultivated her skills as an author and marketing specialist to become a valued extraordinarily brilliant woman and published author who understands the aspiring author's need to have a platform where they can display and critique their work.

In addition, she is a moderator on the Mistress Journals Erotic Stories Forum where she assists in the day to day overseeing of the forum and ensuring that only quality, spam free posts are available for the reading pleasure of the forum members.

Ms. Dezire enjoys filling her day, and most nights, with the new challenges of mentoring and assisting other authors in the attainable dream of going from a hobby writer to a published author as she continues to pursue and achieve her own recently modified writing goals.

Naughty Nights Press knows the advantage of having someone of such ability on our team and we cannot wait to see what the future brings with Ms. Dezire.

We look forward to all she has to offer in the coming launch and digital publishing years!

Congratulations Ms. Dezire!! Welcome to NNP!
