®, (http://noboundariespress.com/) is a new ebook publisher
emerging on the scene offering authors higher royalty payments (60-percent
royalties) than other ebook publishers, a wide variety of genres from gay
erotic to horror and fantasy and word counts for novellas starting at 2,500

NBP’s main focus in the publishing industry will be to bring the

Mental BDSM vs Physical BDSM
Dawne walks into the auditorium, striding confidently down the
aisle to the stage, shuffles some papers on the lectern and surveys the amassed
audience. Tessa follows quickly, gliding through the audience, spots some
friends she knows and waves enthusiastically. “Hey!!! Hey!!! YES! Dawne and I
are doing one of these Christmas Lectures – you know, like they do at the Royal
Institute in London every year? Ohhhhh no – not by Royal Appointment this
lecture *laughs* can you imagine? Though, if the Royal family would like any
tips, I’m happy to oblige...” Looking around thoughtfully, she spots a table of
particularly handsome attendees, Tessa turns imploringly to Dawne who shakes
her head in resignation and nods with a half sigh. A huge smile lights up
Tessa’s face and she practically runs straight over to the table which seats
Julez S Morbius, Raymond Frazee, Chrystian Marrero, Benjamin Russell, Ray
Sostre and Daddy Xmas. Trying to decide the best place to sit, Tessa smiles
coquettishly at Benjamin and sits on his lap, blushing.
Dawne clears her throat and the crowd quietens down – “I suppose
I’d better start – Tessa, are you ok down there?”. “Oh yes Dawne – I think I
most *definitely* have the best seat in the house, is it ok if I do my bit from
here? It’ll be good for opinions too!” Dawne suspects this is probably an
horrific excuse to remain seated amongst the most eligible men in the literary
world, but, it probably wouldn’t do any harm. Gesturing for a microphone to be
handed to her, Dawne starts the lecture.
“So let’s begin. The first point to consider is how do you know
if the submissive is strong enough to be involved mentally? – Tessa, what would
you say?”
“Whew what a
question?!!! I wonder how anyone knows how strong they are mentally? I mean,
that's traditionally what the role of the Dom should be isn't it? Testing,
assessing, observing, if anyone should know, then an experienced Dom should be
able to tell if a sub is ready. But then, there are many different types of
play. Some people purely practice D/s for the physical release, others? For the
mental connection, that all consuming involvement in anothers’ every thought.
In my mind, D/s can only ever be fulfilling when that connection is there,
without the connection, how can there be complete trust and respect? Also, the
Dominant parties have a lot to learn too, they aren't psychic, they have to
already have an idea of how much their sub can take... And then find the limits
to push.
If the play is purely physical and perhaps even a one.off, can it even be
called D/s in anything but name only? For example if I partook in a ‘scene’
with these lovely boys here, would it be a true D/s relationship?” Tracing a
line across Benjamin’s chest she moves from his lap and kneels in front of the
table of handsome wordsmiths, holding out her wrists. Looking up through
eyelashes and smiling coyly “anyone want to test that theory?”
“Enough teasing the
poor boys Tessa, I think it’s best if you join me on the stage before you cause
chaos” Dawne chastised. Pretending to sulk, Tessa winks at the table of men and
skips lightly to take her place at the lectern.
Leaning against the
wooden stand she continued “This topic has so many different connotations – as
we’ve just discussed, there’s the mental side of BDSM of being prepared,
understanding what each member of the relationship wants, and crucially,
whether they are ready to experience such intense emotions – and can they
handle the consequences. Further to this, can a BDSM relationship exist or be
fulfilling where sexual contact is limited – in fact isn’t BDSM essentially a
mental construct to define and enhance sexual play? The internet is such a
pervasive part of every day life, and there are many who only participate in
D/s relationships over the internet. Are their experiences any less valid or
meaningful for never having met? I would say not. Indeed physical contact can
provide different experiences, but trust, respect, understanding... these are
what define a BDSM relationship, not the amount of bruises and pain you
suffer.”
“A Dominant person
controls their submissive through tasks, reward or punishment. This doesn’t
necessarily have to be done in person – in fact it’s a much more potent display
of trust to be completed apart and indeed at a distance. It could be so easy
for the submissive to ‘say’ they have completed the tasks, whereas really they
haven’t. What’s more, the reward or punishment could easily be ignored. In
which case where is the interaction, the play, the fun, the trust – the
relationship? So if all the tasks and rewards and punishments are carried out
with trust and respect observed... How is this different to a physical
interaction? Of course this is a completely subjective topic – and it is this
which we pose now. This lecture is designed to make you think – to question
your thoughts and pre-conceptions.”
Catching Tessa winking at one of the men...Dawne glares at her. Tessa
giggles and ignores the look as she continues to flirt. Dawne addresses the
audience “Shall I continue?....BDSM can be intensely sensual, but it
doesn't have to be intensely sexual. To say that sex never occurs in BDSM is a
lie. It's just that it doesn't have to. Many people have wonderful, leave you
limp, experiences without any sexual contact at all. Also, being in the scene
doesn't mean you're going to get laid.”
“Submissives/bottoms/slaves don't come pre-packaged from the BDSM
factory. If you are new and unattached, politeness and courtesy will go a long
way towards getting that play date. Behaviour, respect and being responsible
are key in the BDSM relationship.”
“How long does the
Master/Slave scenario go on for...Let's see... While people can
assume roles for the duration of a scene and then come out of those roles after
ward, remember that while they are in that scene the role is real, others stay
in their role all the time and their relationship is very real and should be
respected. One more thing on this, if someone is in a more formal role, scene
etiquette says you must respect that. If you want to talk to the sub, you
should speak to the Dom first; get permission. If someone is wearing a collar,
they are NOT
community property, someone put that collar on them and that is who you seek
out. To assume that it's all play acting will most likely get you a ticket to
the door.”
Finally paying attention the
lecture in hand Tessa interjects “Well said Dawne! Sometimes the mental and the
physical come together – and well that’s a WHOLE new discussion, which perhaps
we should lecture on another day? This public speaking thing is a hoot isn’t
it?”

Ana: Hey, girl! So we're doing a
Chit Chat and All That together!
“Unusual Paranormal Creatures and We Aren’t Talking About The Usual
Vampires or Werewolves.” I like this
topic!
Kiki: I love the topic too. I just finished and
subbed a book about a chimera and a Native American Indian woman with a Dragon
Spirit, so I am all over the unusual these days! Creating their mating ritual
was fun and will lead to all kinds of possibilities for sequels. LOL Plus, I am
working on a trilogy, At War In The Willows, where there are clans of vampires,
werewolves and witches fighting, and well secretly falling in love without
knowing the consequences of merging the clans. So again, not your typical
vampire and werewolf stories there either.
Ana: Hey, those do sound like interesting books!
I'm currently working on a series, One Powerful Addiction, that is blending
ancient Shaman beliefs and common public misconceptions as far as magic is
concerned. I thought it'd be easier to play on those misconceptions rather than
trying to completely rewire them. For example, most people accept the notion of
summoning up spirits and demons in a paranormal setting – which is a perfectly
accepted belief in some magical traditions – but in the Shamanic tradition, you
would go to the spirit as opposed to having the spirit come to you.
However, just to keep things simple, there's quite a bit of spirit summoning
going on in One Powerful Addiction.
Kiki: The stories have been fun to write, to really
let my mind go where I wanted it to. I think chimeras are so powerful and
beautiful anyway, and I have a few research books on Dragon Magick that I was
dying to use some of the information from in a story. Just been in the mood to
mix all the creatures together! And, don't know if you watch the Vampire Diaries or not, but the hybrid thing
there interests me.
Ana: Unfortunately I don't have access to TV in my
place so I'm not up-to-date on any current shows. What kind of hybrid thing is
going on over at Vampire Diaries?
Kiki: The Vampire Diaries has a vampire and
werewolf hybrid who is trying to create his own army by turning werewolves,
because hereditary, into vampires. But they have this whole doppelganger
mythology going that is preventing him from doing so as in only her blood will
allow the hybrid to conversion to work.
Ana: You know, I have to say that
while I LOVE vampires, I do get a little tired of seeing them everywhere.
Maybe, if we're going to use vampires in our stories, we should spice them up a
little bit, you know? Like vampires that don't feed on blood!
I love Jim Butcher's White Court Vampires in his Dresden Files series because they feed on really strong emotions like lust,
or anger, or fear. I'm totally one of those nerds who plays tabletop
roleplaying games and my game night group and I are playing a Dresden Files
game in which I'm playing as a White Court Vampire who feeds on lust. She's
also a porn star! It's a lot of fun to play, haha.
Kiki: I'm not familiar with the Jim Butcher series
or game, but sounds fun. I like vampires that feed on energy, but yes, we do
these days need to mix up the vampires a bit. They are everywhere. I mean I had
fun writing a historical story where the vampire was all Byron-like, but then I
like to move on, change things up, even if it is to pit the different
paranormal creatures together. I love the interplay of necromancy, spells of
witches to control vampires too.
You bring up a good point, though. One way to spice up any paranormal creature
tale, whether going with old myths or creating new ones is to add in the edge
of sex. I toyed with the idea of my chimera, having so many different animals
in him, of having a mate for each one, but it just wasn't that type of story,
it was more action-packed CIA type thing actually.
Ana: I also like the vampire
generator over at Seventh
Sanctum. They always come up with some interesting
twists. For example, I just navigated over there and the first one the
generator spat out at me is a vampire that subsists on human neural tissue and
he feeds through his skin.
Kiki: So, let me ask you, what are your favorite
paranormal creature outside the vamps, witches and weres?
Ana: Hmm... well I have an old WIP of mine that
features a race of dragons with the ability to shapeshift into humans. I'll
probably be digging it up soon because I really liked the concept of the
reverse shifting there.
Kiki: I like the idea of the reverse shift, kind of
like Annette Blair's Dragon Magic series. The dragon book I used for research is
non-fiction, spells to connect with dragon spirits. Interesting stuff!
Ana: I also love merpeople!
Especially the myth of the selkies (which is so interesting but completely
tragic.) Selkies are apparently seals that can shed their skins, thus allowing
them to adopt a human form for a short amount of time. They must put back on
their skin in order to return to the sea but I know in a lot of the selkie
stories, mortal men would hide the skins of the female selkies so that they
couldn't go back.
Kiki: Ah, yes, the mer people! I love them too, but
then I just have a thing for water. I've
only written one story though using them, undines, represent the water element
in Wicca, and it's believed if you lay in the water, their empathic abilities
sense your dreams and desires, and they help to guide you in where you need to
go through visions. The story was called "Hero of the Waves" included
in the Hope Ocean anthology by Hedge Witchery Books to raise money for the Gulf
Oil Spill in 2010.
Ana: Can't forget spirits! (And
not the alcoholic kind, haha.) In my ARe Just One Bite story, the protagonist
calls upon a spirit of the Lower World (one of the three realms of existence on
the spiritual plane in many shamanic traditions.)
Then we have nymphs, fauns, satyrs... incubi and succubi...
Kiki: I too love to mess with ghosts, spirits of
all kinds, but I love when a book puts together a demon and angel. I just love
the automatic romantic angst created by having two such opposing creatures fall
in love. I've read several and written one to date. I had no idea at the time
what I was getting myself into, how hard it would be to find ways to get them
together. I joked when I was writing it that I spent my whole week trying to
get a demon into heaven - in lots of ways! LOL
The incubi and succubi are something I would one day like to
read more on.
Ana: I almost forgot to mention
angels. I seem to have an obsession with writing about angels here lately, too!
Mostly fallen angels, though.
Now, I have a question for you!
There are a lot of awesome paranormal/supernatural creatures that aren't
exactly sexy enough to be featured as a hero or heroine in our stories, but
what are some of your favorite creatures to use as baddies/antagonists?
Kiki: Well right on track with your angels, I'd
have to go with Demons! Although I had a halfling, half demon half human, as my
hero in my story, A Questionable Hero, I had his father and brothers, full
demons, causing a lot of havoc in the story. Not sure how usual demons are, but
I like them when they can morph between human form and some grotesque demon
form.
I also have done several ghosts in short stories, again, not different really,
but since I write erotica, I like my ghosts to get in on the action, force
human's hands, and other body parts so to say! They are never the main
characters for me, but giving those around them a hard time LOL. Once used the ghost of a witch in a haunted
house type story who brought a couple closer together if you know what I mean.
Ana: Bahaha, yeah, I think I know
what you mean.
Kiki: I was also thrilled to be in
the NNP anthology, Wicked and Wanton All Hallow’s Eve, with you.
Ana: That's a fun anthology. I'm
glad we both got to be a part of it!

Showing
Two nights before the Halloween opening of her husband's
theater, Meredith along with the
help of her husband and his best friend slash investor, try to
rid the theater of a ghost who made
trouble for them when restoring the place. The female spirit, it
is rumored, killed herself in the
projection room back in the sixties after catching her fiancé at
the movies with another woman.
The lonely ghost has other plans for their evening. As the scary
movie goes crazy and popcorn

us here today Abby I hope that through your answers to the following questions,
our readers will get to know a bit about you and your writing.
NNP: What inspired you to write FINDING PARADISE?
Actually, I work in an office on a college campus in my real
life, and often listen to the ladies there, the one’s who are older than me, complain
about married life with kids, the lack of a sex life, etc. These frequent
conversations of which I listen, smile, but can’t really participate in often
get me wondering how their lives could change. Then I heard about a facebook
hook up, and a contemporary story idea started brewing. What really set the
plot though was when I heard one of the ladies mention this song that her
mother used to listen to. She had stumbled on it on a blog. It seemed like it had affected many in its
time from the way they spoke of all their mothers listening to it. One lady who
was a young mom when the song came out said it practically affected a whole
generation of woman. So I listened to the song with them, and then several
times later that night actually. The idea of the song started to form Nevaeh's
back story. I know that is a lot of different things, but it all rolled together
in my brain and by the time I got to the computer the story practically wrote
itself. By the way, the song was I’ve Never Been To Me by Charlene. Here is the
video I watched on YouTube
NNP: Previously, you have only written short
stories that appeared in anthologies. Do you feel that is a good way for a
writer to “wet their feet” so to speak?
Oh, absolutely! For one, it takes much less time to write a
short than a whole novel, and so it is a good way to invest time in hearing
from peers, changing the story, playing with your own voice and then getting a
great piece to send off to publishers and see what their reaction is. Once you
get published in an anthology, it puts you with other authors, allowing you to
get your feet wet in the industry especially as far as promotion goes and
developing a social presence.
NNP: What comes first, the character or the
setting when you begin writing?
For me, it depends. With Finding Paradise, it was the characters.
But for my shorts in both A Wicked and Wanton All Hallow’s Eve and Campus
Sexploits anthologies, it was definitely the setting due to the themes I was
writing toward. A story I just wrote for
Valentine’s Day actually started with a combination of the two.
NNP: What is the main quality you like to see in
your characters?
Emotions with a very contemporary edge to them. I like
writing the modern woman with all she has to deal with these days. Of course it
is along those lines that I like to concentrate on either romance or a sexual
fantasy, depending upon which the situation calls for.
NNP: What type of research do you do for your writing?
At this point, with the stories I have written, really life,
or talking to others about their lives, has been my only research, or more the inspiration
to let my imagination go wherever it wants to :) I recently had to do research
for a blog though where I talked about sex on campuses – that was very
interesting *winks*
NNP: Now I
understand you lead a dual life, by day a student…by night a naughty writer
penning fantasies for others to enjoy. Are you worried about people finding out
about your “other” personality?
Sometimes. As I just explained to an author friend recently
who just asked me the same sort of question, I do a lot of careful juggling, making sure that I am always logged in under the proper name
online before I say anything as I have other work related accounts on places
like FaceBook under my real name too.
Got to always make sure the right person is talking. My other stress is making
up excuses in my real life as to what I am doing when I am writing. But it
hasn't been too hard yet to lie a bit claiming school work takes me longer than
it actually does. Sometimes I experience a little guilt, but I've talked to
other authors about that and they have all assured me that I'm not deceiving to
hurt anyone - that that is how a pen name works, to protect me and those who
couldn't handle knowing what I write about. LOL
NNP: Can you tell us
a bit about Finding Paradise in your
own words?
Well, it really starts off as two girls who went to school
together hooking up on FaceBook before their high school reunion. At first the
story is in FaceBook chats which I thought was fun to write. Main thing between
these women is that they have lived two completely different lives and have a
lot to gain through talking again. Nevaeh has lived a free life, traveling,
moving from one man’s bed to another, always looking for love in sometimes the
wrong places, but having a lot of great experiences too. Kelly on the other
hand is married with kids and wanting to get her sex life back while secretly
reading erotic novels. The story continues, and gets really hot, once the women
meet up in real life, once Nevaeh comes back home for the reunion. Lots of sexy
fun ensues in the form f/f, f/m/f and m/f/m/f encounters with some m/m action!
NNP: Do you have
any other books in the pipeline or due for release that our readers should keep
an eye out for?
I have a story releasing with NNP every month but one in
2012! Along with several shorts in anthologies, come Valentines Day I have a
novelette called “Seeing Red,” a hot little group sex story that ends in a very
romantic happy ever after ending. In May I have another novella called “Dream
Job,” which is about a woman finding work in her film field but in the porn
industry. It isn’t her dream job, she thinks, but then again, once she opens
her mind, she might have to reconsider that.
I could go on and on, but will leave it at that for now.

With the full moon illuminating the room,

“Quiet down, or you’ll wake the kids.”
“You’re scaring me. What’s happened to my

“She’s right here. What’s the difference if

“What kind of idiots do you hire? And, man I
felt sorry for that slime yesterday when he posted about his workload on
