Book1in my first ever series is releasing this month with Naughty Nights Press!!!!Okay now imagine me screaming that several times in a row – well that was thefeeling with which it was written. LOL I never thought I would write a series.I mean people have asked for more of a story or for sequels before, but I’musually done with characters or stories when I finish writing them. But I’vedone it! I’ve written an erotic, paranormal series where three covens (vampire,witch and werewolf) are all at war. So I’m just soooo excited about the releaseof the first novella in the series – The Vampire’s Witch: At War in theWillows, Book 1.

Thisreally is a series about that fine line between love and hate, peace and war,as well as stereotyping and prejudices born of fears of the unknown. Yes, thatis it in a nutshell there. Simple right? These are subjects I am passionateabout though – people learning compassion, acceptance, so it was nice to createand deal with them in a paranormal world where the stakes are a bit higher. Itend to do that though, hide little messages in my writing *winks*

Though,writing this series was very different for me in a couple of ways. First, I wasjuggling so many characters that I followed a family tree of sorts, and I meanof sorts because with vampires there are birth families and then createdfamilies. Also, the point of view is different in that each story takes placein only one head, and each of them in the mind of a vampire - book one is malevampire POV, book two female vampire POV and book three another male vampirePOV. Yet, I had to represent all three clans and all three couples. A challengefor sure.

Honestlythough, since I am pretty much a plotter, I wrote Book 1, The Vampire’sWitch, in no time flat. And, I mean like breaking-all-my-writer-daily-word-count-recordsfast. The second book, The Vampire’s Wolf, went pretty much the sameexcept at one point I wrestled with the plot. I got ahead of myself, thinkinginto the third book which had an ending but not a final scene, and somewhere inthere I got all concerned I wasn’t addressing all the unfinished business inbook one and book two in book three. Whew, did you get that? Hence my nerves tobegin with in writing a series. So I had to read back through and take evenbetter notes on my plot before I could continue.

ThenI started writing the third book, and not having that final scene really buggedme. I mean how do you end a series? Nothing seemed good enough. Then the real stumbling block came – thecovers!!! They simply blew me away. I mean it was like the cover artist, ShaneWillis, got inside my head and then improved upon what I had seen there. I panicked:( I felt like my stories would neverlive up to those covers. I seriously wanted to go back through the whole seriesand re-write it. But, I had already turned the first story in. Which I amgrateful for, because I think sometimes over-thinking a story muddies it. Editscalmed me. Rereading that first book got me back in the game thanks to thesupport of my wonderful editor, Jennifer Gunn :)

Butstill, a writer’s block of sorts lingered with that ending. I mean I had theoutline and only half a story to finish, but the right words just wouldn’tcome, at least not to meet that cover *sighs* But, I pulled it off. Just hadone of those moments where I rallied, and wrote. And, ending are where Iusually find as a reader I take issue. Not all are ever going to be happy withthe way things turned out. Point is, I was really challenged as a writer withthis one. And, I think in the end that is a good thing.

NowI am seriously sitting here counting down the days on the calendar, like a kidin December waiting for Christmas, waiting for release day for the first book.And if readers think it is hard to wait between books in a series releasing,well a part of me just wants the whole series to release *winks* Don’t know ifI have the patience in me. Especially since I have my first mainstream novelreleasing this year as well. I am a ball of impatient nerves! So I just keepplanning promo. And I think I am too old for time to start moving this slow*giggles*

So,onto the good stuff. Here is the blurb for the At War in the Willows seriesalong with a great banner that I got from a wonderful author friend of mine,Jennifer Labelle.

And what bettertopic than interracial erotica for us since we both write it! This conversationwas all through email and as you can see we discussed a lot. SharitaL: Hi Kendel. I did a couple of blogs on the subject a while backone on interracial gay male erotica.

KendelD: Sharita, thanks for passing on this information. I've beenfollowing your work from your blog so it was great to get a chance to take adeeper look at these particular blogs topics.
Most of these ideas might seem random but I feel that if I get it out we canframe it anyway we want.

First, I have to agree with you as far as some of the thoughts that I'vereceived from writers who are scared to dabble into the realm of interracialromance because they are afraid to "get it wrong". I also agreethat I've read some very stereotypical portrayals of characters of color insome erotic work.

However, I think what might be interesting to chat about is the fact that,since we are both writers of color, how we approach creating ourcharacters. With both of us being African American, how do we approachcharacters outside of our race when we write? Also, since we both live inbig cities (I lived most of my adult life in either Washington D.C., New YorkCity and Los Angeles) how does that affect how we look at interracialrelationships.

I write a lot of interracial F/F, ménage and group stories and I use a greatdeal of my experience growing up in a multicultural world for mycharacters. I've had friends of all races and religions that have allowedme "insiders access" to their lives. I use the information whenit comes to creating characters. Even as I'm writing this, I have storiesout there which have East Indian, Latino, Asian, African-American and Caucasiancharacters.

I understand how a little bit or research can go a long way but I guess thequestion that I've always found interesting is, if you’re a person of color,when you think of writing romance do you think of character traits or racefirst?

For me, I always think of character first but most of those characters happento be people of color because that's how I see the world. I'm not sure ifthis is true for everyone and even with there being a rise in interracialromance readers are there certain genres that lend itself to a "slipperyslope" when it comes to placing an ethnic spin on things?

A perfect example of this would be BDSM. Personally, I enjoy readingthese stories but whenever a character happens to be African-American, I feelthat I have to look at the character with more scrutiny. Especially ifthat character is a sub. That might seem a little petty but I can't seemto let go of the history when it comes to the imagery. Whether thatcharacter is male, female or transgender there is a part of me that tip toesthrough these stories trying to not allow the action to carry a specificmeaning other than character wise.

The same goes for cuckold stories, which have a tendency to lend themselvestowards more stereotypical imagery. Even if the "Big BlackBull" is a three-dimensional character, the idea of the "Big BlackBull" still carries a historical connotation that has me wondering moreabout the author’s intent rather than the validity of the story. (Also,most writers forget that the idea of the cuckold comes from the femaledominance of the submissive male and not the lust for black male sexual powerre: Venus in Fur)

I've found a few stories that have been able to capture a balance betweencharacter and the historical implications of putting character of color insituations like this but they are very rare.

The same thing goes for the submissive Asian female character or the over sexedLatino.

I guess the point is that if the motivation is clear that the actions arecoming from a character perspective then the story should work but you can'tdeny that the ground that you're walking on has all type of landmines thatmight turn the reader off.

That's not to say that these stories can't work or that they can't be writtenby authors of different races but I feel that sometimes the urge to try andembrace everybody by saying that race is only skin deep doesn't take intoaccount that the perception is in the eye of the reader.

For me, I try my best to be all-inclusive and conscious of these elements whenI'm creating characters because it’s difficult for me to think that acharacters physical description is only the way that character looks. Ithas to be all of those elements combined that makes themthree-dimensional.

For my story "Umoja Mean Unity" that was in "Doing The NaughtyList, Twice" my MC was half-Jewish and half African-American whosefamily celebrated both Chanukah and Kwanza. Since this was a holidayanthology, the idea of having a bi-racial character fit perfectly but thebalance between the two holidays and how it made my MC unique came from bothpersonal experience and a great deal of research. I didn’t thinktwice about “if” I could write this character but I also understood thatstriking the right balance between her religions and ethnicity was important toget the story across to the reader as well as keeping her unique and three-dimensional.

I know this is a longramble but this has been on my mind all day.

To put it simply in away that I think is odd and slightly funny is that I never questioned myabilities to write Caucasian characters in my stories but I can’t tell you how manyblogs I’ve read where the opposite occurrence comes with a disclaimer andprotest.

I guess if you have toexplain to the world why you should be allowed to write interracial storiesthen maybe one should look at why you want to write them in the first place.

SharitaL:No everything you saidmakes sense. I definitely look at it from a character perspective first becauseregardless of color, no one should be the same.

I have friends of otherraces as well. Not that I've delved into their personal lives but I'm of theopinion that we all could have certain traits but they shouldn't be regarded asstereotypes.

Here's an interestingfact and I'm glad that we both touch on GLBT as well. For whatever reason,people think they must write a person of color a certain way. They're afraid to"not get it right" which in my opinion is silly. I mean, yes Asian'shave certain cultural differences than say blacks or Latinos but it isn'twritten in stone that all Asians are one way and all blacks are another.

I like to write overdifferent genres and races. I have two stories that are "out of mycomfort" zone. One being an m/m about a Korean male who falls in love witha black man that visits his shop, and the thing that's real is they meetbecause of a racial stereotype. His father believes the black man may causetrouble or steal so he tells the son to go see what he wants.

Unfortunately, that doesexist and is the ugly reality because I deal with it in my own neighborhood.I've seen it happen. This may cause an issue but this has also been portrayedin movies too so obviously, it happens. Still, it doesn't mean that every Asiandoesn't trust black people.

You know what else bugsme is that some writers won't touch a black character and when they do, theymake them like the stereotype. Unfeeling alpha males, they talk slang, ingay books they're "daddies" and erm, in porn they are thesehuge-dicked monsters and are called that on the cover. Blacks and the white inthe middle. *laughs* I abhor that!

Sadly, it happens inerotica too. I'm not sure about f/f but I know in m/m it does. Thankfully thereare writers who write novels that know better. Not every black man isuneducated, talks slang, etc. Now that being said, it doesn't mean I don't doit. I myself don't talk much slang but I know to bring a little reality to thestory and the character, it might be necessary if that's the way they come out.However with me it doesn't happen often.

I know I just talkedyour ear off and went all over the place but I think you get from me that Ihate stereotypes and wish people would accept people as that, people, notexpecting them to be the "fiesty Latina, the uneducated black male orfemale, the Caucasian brain, or the un-trusting Asian. I think you get my idea.

When people read any ofmy books they should read it with idea that my characters stand out on theirown because of the traits and not the race they are. I know it takes researchto learn certain ideas about cultures to make the background correct but thecharacters themselves can be anything they want to be. We live in a diverseworld and it’s time for readers to realize that our books should be just asdiverse.

KendelD:I completely agree with you on allpoints.

I haven't been writing long enough to notice howstereotypes play in f/f writing as of yet except for the Sapphire Black Womanwhich I try to avoid but I love writing strong female characters who know whatthey want. It came up in my free read today and I spent a lot of timetrying to work my way around it but that is who my character is so I'll stickwith it.

I also feel that religious diversity is an areathe gets ignored as well. I'm working on a book idea that I'm stillresearching a great deal about two Jewish women who fall in love in New York. One happens to be Mexican and the other Ethiopian. The fact that mostpeople don't know about the Orthodox Mexican Jewish Population is amazing to mesince I've know a few and I'm neither one of those.

I worked in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood forthree years and the rules that designed to keep men and women apart lendsitself to exploring same sex relationships but it's also a very slipperyslope. I know I have enough experience for the other side to fill in theblanks but I still have a little bit of pause about starting to move the storyforward from the outline stage.

However, I still feel that if it's all aboutdiversity it's hard not to think about the physical being an important factorbut as you said, it has to be more than just about the color of a charactersskin.

I understand how some stereotypical behavior canfilter into a character and I don't mind that if it is justified by back storybut what I have a problem with is a character who just seems to be therebecause the writer though it was a good idea to have a character of color inthe story just because of potential profits.

I guess if you show me your writer's hand whenit come to creating interracial relationships then I feel it's fair toquestions the "whys". And if your response is that I should beable to write about whoever I want to write about then you should be able toaccept that fact that I should be allow to point out the fact that your ethniccharacter lacks "character development".

So, I guess all of this is to say "Whatresponsibility does a writer have when they create ethnic characters?" or"How do you get your interracial relationships right in erotica?"

SharitaL: Ibelieve that through research, you possibly could get the cultural aspects inthe background right such as settings, family members, etc but to me, and I'mno expert at this, still learning, character development happens when we seethe positive and negative traits this person displays.

I'm still learning howto develop my characters fully. When talking to my editors and even somereaders who've left reviews have said that certain characters are not developedenough. They didn't know anything about these people in the story other thanhow he or she fit with the others in the tale. Little scenes where thecharacter lives everyday help the reader learn more about the protagonist.

When it comes to aninterracial relationships, we as writers, should feel compelled to show thedifferent things that tie the character to their race, positively andnegatively as long as it is part of the plot story.

This could be done justby watching people, period, how they act. In Chicago, it's very segregated.Sadly, in a lot of parts in the city, you can tell who lives where by thenumbers that walk the streets. I'm sure it's like that in a lot of big townsbut it happens and I suppose that won't change. I'd say an author could attemptto find out information just by asking about cultural differences. I'm marriedto a Hispanic man so I'm very familiar with Hispanic/Latino culture. When theauthor tries to "get it right" I suppose it’s best to ask someone ofthat race just for back story purposes. When it comes to the character, thisperson is still a human being. Maybe he could talk with an accent or only eat acertain food, but we, as authors, should be mostly concerned with the plot lineand not pointing out the racial differences when it comes to ourcharacters.

As my editor alwayssays, it shouldn't be in the story unless it relates to the plot.

Perhaps more responsibilityshould be placed on the author when they do a historical to get their factsstraight. In contemporary fiction, we can create our characters how we wantwithout making them stereotypical. Those who criticize you for "notgetting it right" in my opinion, are small minded.

KendelD: Sharita, I agree with you completely.

I teach screenwriting at a major university outhere in California and my focus for the past 16 years has been character. I'm a playwright and screenwriter as well and when it comes to developingcharacters, the 3 most important questions are "what does you characterwant?", "what does your character need?", and the most importantquestions is "why does your character want what they want?".

I used to work at a small talent agency andevery time I asked that last question they would look at me like a puppy whojust peed on the rug. And these are people who make their living writingfor the screen and TV.

However, I've always found it interesting thateditors will say that "if it's not important to the plot then don't put itin the story" which basically means when it comes to ethnicity that thedefault race is Caucasian. I know it's that way in screenwriting butthere is a question of why because that means if a character happens to be anyother race there has to be a purpose for it rather than the story speaks foritself, my characters just happen to be of different races. Thisassumption has always bothered me but I usually construct a major personalmoment in my characters journey that somehow relates to their ethnicity andthen get back to the story but the fact that non-ethnic characters don't haveto deal with the same scrutiny as ethnic characters seems to speak to how farwe are when it comes to dealing with acceptance of all races, religions andsexual orientations.

In New York, the neighborhood was segregated buttraveling through the city wasn't and that's why I cherish the years I livedthere. Los Angeles is very segregated which might seem strange but asyou're driving around the city you will see the color of the faces change blockby block and since everybody drives here so it appears a lot worse than what itis which is still pretty bad.

I have to agree with your last ideas aswell. I do feel that writers have a greater responsibility to dohistorical and cultural research before writing their stories and the peoplewho criticize about writers "not getting it right" as assuming thateverybody's experience is the same, which means they are denying the possibilitiesof characters and focusing on the limitations of their own experience.

True, we as authors should focus on the plotline of our stories but why do we have to justify using ethnic characters inour stories when the same doesn't apply to non-ethnic characters? Thatmeans if you use a character of color, the plot must be focused on thecharacter being a specific ethnicity. I don't feel that's fair but thoseare the rules that we have to play by, I guess.

On a side note, the thing I found mostinteresting when developing my story about the two Jewish women was the factthat Latino food doesn't lend itself to being Kosher. Especially when itcomes to Orthodox Kosher food. There is a point in the story that I'veoutlined where that gets challenged when my female Mexican character has todeal with this issue at work when they have an office meeting that iscatered. They decided to get Mexican food for the meeting and she can'teat any of it because not only was pork used but the combination of meat anddairy together which is a major violation of Kosher law. With this one Iwant to make sure that I get the religious aspects right because I got aintimate glimpse into the Orthodox world from a woman's perspective yet beingan gentile there are still some places that I wasn't able to get to due to thesecretive nature of the Orthodox religion. I understand the concepts butknowing where they developed from in regard to the Torah is where I'm atnow. I hope I can get started on that one by the end of the year.

SharitaL: That lineabout if it’s not important to the plot, pull it out? One of my editorspreaches it. To an extent I agree but I mean shouldn't we bring out thesubtleties of our characters when it comes to their race? Interestingly, hesays, the best selling IRs are one where he couldn't tell the race of thecharacter. But, but, then as you said, the reader assumes the characters arewhite.

The more IR I read andwrite, I disagree. It can be done to show some reality without beating thereader over the head. It gives the character flavor. The thing that makes IRdifferent from mainstream is seeing those differences as long as they aresetting and or relate to plot. You don't need to overdo it.

Whew.

We covered a lot here. Doyou have any other points we've missed?

KendelD: I know we covered a lot of stuff and the onlything I can think of, which popped into my head a few days ago when I sent myfree read to Penny at NNP was this.

Since the genre interracial had "race"in the title it should mean that race play an important factor in thestory. However, if it doesn't and the characters happen to me ofdifferent races does it still make the story and interracial one?

I guess what I mean by that is how is the termdefined by the writer vs the editor/publisher vs the reader. Perfectexample would be if a Japanese character fell in love with a Pacific Islanderwould that technically be an interracial story? What about an East Indiancharacter who falls in love with a Pakistani? Where is the line drawn? The Irish and the English are both Caucasian but the differences in the cultureis vast, yet if they fell in love it wouldn't be considered an interracialrelationship.

SharitaL: That’sa good point about interracial. Technically it would be an interracial becauseof the culture difference. We in American society seemed to be so quick tolabel everything.

The bottom line is allpeople should be treated the same regardless of color and despite thedifferences in culture we all bleed the same. However because of our upbringingwe are quick to make somebody into the mold we want them to be. It’s just likethe whole issue with gender and orientation. You’re a guy who likes guys soyou're gay. Nowadays I'm thinking that it doesn't matter. You can love anyone ifyou have the deep connection with them and sex doesn't even have to play arole.

I rambled to say I supposed yes it still would be interracial because they aren’tof the same culture. When we'll be able to get passed that culture divide andjust appreciate each other for our unique traits. I dunno. I suppose we’ll bewaiting awhile.

Conclusion:As you can see we covered a bunch. The basic idea is we as writers would liketo bring color to our stories not focusing on the differences of characters butrather their common traits as people. We both take issue with how races havebeen portrayed and have tried our best to do our homework to bring therealities into a more positive light. We think other authors regardless ofcolor shouldn’t be intimidated to “get it wrong” and should be mostly concernedwith developing lively characters regardless of race but we’ve also brought outsome of the “ugliness” as long as it relates to the plot.

Obviously,Kendel has done a great deal of research to make sure the characters in her storiesare as close to correct when it comes to customs and religion. I’ve reliedmostly on what I’ve known or seen since I’m involved in an interracial marriageand have many friends outside my race. Neither method is wrong. The point is,are we doing all we can to bring life to our stories and show the details aboutthe characters?

Thiscan be done positively without stereotypes. You’ll offend no one if you keepthem human, when writing contemporary. The basic idea, we all bleed red. That’sthe key.

The More The Merrier? Well, Let Me Ask You...

In the bedroom? Well I say, Hell Ya! There are just so many ways to go there... And I just keep getting inspired to write more and more scenarios too. So, let me go through them, then I have a question for you…

I started off on a bang with my story, “Haunted Party” in A Wicked and Wanton All Hallow’s Eve with f/m/m/m and a ghost! Spooky and sexy *winks* While fighting off a ghost with sexual energy was great with one man and one woman, it just kept getting better as I kept adding men!

And, I mixed it up even more in my first novella, Finding Paradise. In this story, it may have started with a nice f/m. Of course, that was all mixed up in between two women sharing sex stories that include all sorts of sexual scenarios from capture fantasy doing the guys next door… But, next comes an f/f in an adult store dressing room with sex toys in the background to tease the reader. The teasing doesn’t continue for long though as the husband invites the other woman into their bedroom with an f/f/m and said sex toys. Of course, I went for my first f/m/f/m by the end :)

I took on an m/f/m in “Chem 101” in the Campus Sexploits anthology with a student, a college prof and a student assistant. Fun, and scientific *giggles* I found I really liked playing with the power dynamic with this one since the chemistry was already there – sorry had to say it. LOL

Not able to get enough, by Valentines Day this year, I had a woman in charge of two women and two men’s bodies for the holiday in Seeing Red. The main character made some asses red, let me tell you in this f/f/m/f/m I guess it was? I had a lot of fun directing in this one just who was going to be with who – when and how *winks*

I am really excited about my new novella, Dream Job, which releases in May. In this one there are all sorts of things going on as a woman takes a job writing for the adult film industry. Although there is a very hot m/f/m scene in the bedroom, it was really the filming, the touches, the poses, the action in the studio that was soooo sexy and sooo enticing to write.

And, I am beyond excited too about a m/m/m, my first, that I just turned in to NNP too. It is a very dramatic story and a very intense story about three men and the world of MMA fighting…whew…I just can’t wait for this to come out! It took a lot out of me to write actually, as every minute was just so intense in a variety of ways.

So, let me ask you. Readers and a reviewer have suggested that I write a sequel to Finding Paradise. I've bounced some ideas off other authors, and I am really considering doing so. I was thinking of going with new couples in the sequel that come in contact with the couples in the first one, so you get a new story, new scenarios via Facebook, but also catch up with the original couples in the first novella. What I want to know is what is your favorite sexual mix and what are your favorite sexual scenarios or fantasy? I’m taking a poll. I want to continue to mix things up, hmmm or maybe go into an all out orgy of couples! Who knows!?! But I would love to hear some suggestions if you have a moment.

NNP: Wow Abby, when you see how many stories you have hadpublished so far with Naughty Nights Press, how does it make you feel?

Abby: It is indescribable really. When an author friend readmy story, Finding Paradise, and told me it was good enough to be published, Iwas doubtful. But, my friend was right thankfully, and it has been one veryquick, very wild ride since. I still haven’t quite adjusted, but I just can’tstop smiling.

NNP: Now can you tell the readers a bit about Seeing Red andwhat inspired you to write it?

Abby: Well, I have signed a contract with NNP to writeseveral themed stories and Valentine’sDay was one of them. Thinking about the holiday, I decided I wanted to take adivided stance, one of an anti-Valentine’s person verses one who secretly lovesthe day, or well loves love. I also wanted to take that anti anger and use itto make a hot storyline with one dominant woman who takes sexual control overtwo other women and two men. It was a whole lot of fun to write!

Eden: So, Kim, I hear you like furry men, really furry men.What's up with that?

Kim: Well, we tried waxing and to be honest, Grimm wouldn't stop howling whenthe first strip came off - guess they aren't as tough as I thought. Veet wascosting me freakin' fortune... so hairy it is.

Eden: These guys sound very hairy. I prefer a man’s hair be on his chest, arms,legs and the tender triangle only; head hair optional. I do like a sexy baldguy from time to time. Tanner, the guy I'm writing now, is a Marine, and hekeeps his buzzed. His years of Physical Training for the military has him hardas a rock, too.
Why is Grimm so furry, Kim?

Kim: Well , Tanner sounds real nice. It would be a nice change not to pick thehair out of the drain after Grimm showers each day. Well, Grimm is a Lycan, thelast of his kind and a big pain in my arse. Don't even get me started. What wasthat Eden, you want to know? Mind if lay back on the couch, this may take awhile.

Eden: Make yourself comfortable. Even if it’s not my house.

Kim: He doesn't help around the house, except for emptying the fridge on adaily basis, poor Harmony (she's the Vampire) all she seems to do is goshopping and try to calm the rest of The Family down after Grimm stirs the shitand sits back to watch the fireworks. If he wasn't such a good goddamn fighter,I'd have kicked his sorry arse out by now.

Gee, thanks for letting me rant - that feels much better.

Eden: Tanner's the epitome of the emotionally-unavailable male, but he mighthave met his match in Tori, the Navy psychologist who blows his undercovermission to smithereens. Tell me, does Harmony ever pull Grimm's tail?

Kim: Well, it definitely sounds as though Tanner has his work cut out for him.Nothing like a strong female character that calls the shots.

Harmony is what you would call the peacemaker. She's from one of the highsociety families and given her upbringing she tends to put everyone else'sfeelings and wellbeing before her own. Poor thing, hasn't she learned by nowthat you don't get between a 6'7 140kg Lycan and a 5'3 50kg Goddess calledKali? It's gonna be messy... (clean up in aisle 5. I REPEAT - CLEAN UP IN AISLE5!)

Eden: I do tend to write strong female characters; women who can handle theirown lives, and still put a big, strong man on his knees. I write contemporaryerotic romance, probably because I'm a people-watcher and a psych major. I alsohave two grown children, one male and one female, and I have had the pleasureand pain of watching their real-life romances as they unfold.

What drew you to writing paranormal romance, Kim?

Kim: Your world sounds beautiful and contented Eden and we share the same pathas mothers. I have two teenagers; one boy, one girl and I am very fortunate tohave them in my life.

I have always been drawn to the darker aspects of the psyche and Paranormal wassuch an easy genre for me to slip into. I am more of a darker, edgier writerwho loves a combination of romance/thriller and horror. You could say I'm aBram Stoker girl through and through.

Eden: I took up writing erotic romance after my kids both left home. I readparanormal. I can't wait to read Grimm's tale. My muse seems to be drawn tostrong female characters. She wants us to tell stories that could happen to anywoman tomorrow, I suppose. I've been widowed for a decade now, but I was madlyin love with my husband, and that love got us through some tough, tough timesas he was a quadriplegic for the last three years of his life. I learned thenthat tough times don't last, but tough people do. My female characters areusually going through a hard time as we meet them, and I can only hope that myreaders can identify with their struggles, both in their lives and in theirbedrooms.

Kim: Ah, for me too; you see Grimm is only a secondary character in my story.The real heroes are Eve and Adley. Eve is a heavily young pregnant woman, onthe run from a vicious killer that wants her and her baby dead. Adley Scott isa broken down detective that is on the trail for the same killer - the childmurderer Edric Hasting. The story is about the resolve that a mother has,overcoming it all to protect those she loves, for there is a prophecy thatneither is aware and it will force them into a world that neither understoodexisted. Until now.

Like your life, Eve's story is one of sacrifice and hard times, but it is thosemoments of pure joy that will keep her going, doing whatever it takes for thoseshe loves.

Eden: I’ve been hooked on strong female characters that overcome obstaclessince I first met Scarlett O’Hara in Gonewith the Wind. I was eleven when I borrowed that book from the library. Fordays on end I read, even with a flashlight under the covers after my mom sentme to bed. I got to the last page, and someone had torn it out! I threw such afit, my mom drove me back to the library so I could find another copy and readthe last page.

I live in the southern United States, in South Carolina. Most of my stories areset in this area, although I did have a short story in NNP Christmas anthologywhich was set in New York City. Whereare you from, Kim?

Kim: Well Eden, I'm from a coastal town in Queensland, Australia. I must say weseem to share the same fondness for a strong female lead. There's justsomething about the underdog that makes you want to stand with them in theircorner and fight their battles with them. That's why I tend to hurt my femalecharacters, make them flawed in some way, but strong and able to come outswinging, you know what I mean?

Eden: I do indeed. That’s the magical thing about our profession. You can takeme into a werewolf’s heart and mind, and I can teach you the proper use of theword y’all, and that you can sayanything you like about a person, so long as you follow it up with ‘bless her heart’, at least here in thesouth.

Eden: I enjoyed our chat, Kim. It wasfun getting to know you better.

Kim: Thank you Eden, and you too. I've enjoyed our chitchat together; it hasbeen a cozy little trip.

The restaurant was to be their last stop for the day and Natalie was glad forit to end, the endless staring from Mr. Ash was getting on her nerves, hisbody, his eyes entered her thoughts even though she tried her best to blockthem out. They passed through the doors and packed tables filled with dinersthat signaled to her that it was dinner and she hadn't eaten all day, when aman stepped out from the hall dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans. He liftedhis hand and pointed behind her. Her gaze was drawn instantly to the reflectionof the lights as they bounced off the stainless steel of the gun that at thismoment was pointed directly at her client.
She was too close to draw her own gun and the split second decision backed upwith years of hard training told her the only thing she could do was rush tohim.
She crouched low so that she could whip her arms up and flew towards him. Hedidn't notice her at first, dismissing her dress jeans, heels and buttonedjacket. Just another customer in a busy restaurant, well he was wrong.
Her hand wound around his wrist and she squeezed, while her other arm pushed onhis upper arm where it joined at his shoulder. She whipped him around with thenatural movement of her waist and pushed him down to the floor so his face atethe ground with a thud. His hand with the gun was extended upwards, stickingout like a broken wing. She squeezed tightly, grinding the bones of his wristuntil she heard the unmistakable crunch of fracturing bones. The gun fell fromhis gasp as the attacker howled into the floor with pain, but he turned on her,opening his mouth to bite into her hand. She stepped to the side, swiftlybringing up her foot and pressed down on his neck.
She could hear the crack of teeth as the enamel gave way to hard concrete floorand brute force, then she let her foot ease. He would think twice about bitingher again next time. You never knew who carried what now-days, diseases andinfections were everywhere and a woman in her position had to be careful whereher body was concerned. Without her health, she had nothing. Blood splatteredthe ground in front of her as it poured from both his nose and his mouth, thegurgle and his howling of pain was deafening.

I think you guys have figured out that I love everything sexy including seduction and all the kinky passion you can muster around it. In talking with other writers and readers is seems that the art of passion and creating a special moment between you and your lover is a dying one at best. I sadly think that’s why romance books are the number one seller and have been for years. What I also find interesting is the continued controversy about both reading about something that might take you out of your comfort zone and heaven forbid doing something that might be considered VERY kinky.

Is everyone really simply into the missionary style of sex and having it maybe your scheduled one night a week? No. I don’t honestly think that but what I do find in talking with folks is that life gets into a routine and the mere thought of doing something a little adventurous, perhaps even outrageous is simply left at the curb. Why?

Fresh off the doing a very sizzling Chit Chat about Oral Sex with Benjamin Russell, I realized that people still have a difficult time talking about kicking up the heat in various methods. Why? Are we so embarrassed we crave something different from time to time that we can’t whisper to words even to our lover? Come on guys… What’s wrong with doing something like say having the love of your life all hot and naked in front of you, knelt down at your feet while you lean back and enjoy watching a football game. Can you imagine what he or she is doing with their mouths? Can you last until halftime before you ravage his or her body? Now of course you better be ready to spread her across a table later and lick her until she screams out your name. Let’s see, chips and dip or her honey? Which would you prefer?

What about a ride into the country side and she’s not wearing any panties underneath so you can slide your hand up under the tiny dress she’s wearing and flick your fingers back and forth, driving her completely insane. In writing sexy scenes I try and mix it up in my books. Your fantasy goes as far as your imagination allows and whether you long to have a kinky threesome in a hotel over during lunch or crave trying one of those very naughty clubs where anything goes on your next vacation, you’re likely to find what you hunger for. We all fall into the same trap and I like to remind folks you don’t have to. I write about sexy baths and incredible edibles. What about taking a trip together to your favorite lingerie store or you male lovers purchasing some sexy red briefs together. Laugh and enjoy, try some kink and purchase some handcuffs and if you’re really adventurous – let me give you one of my favorite ideas.

Now, I’m telling on myself but one of my favorite and only mildly kinky things to do involves a restaurant. Try and imagine one of those sexy places where there are tablecloths and lovely music in the background. You sit down with your lover and indulge in drinking wine and then you perhaps get a little romantic and kiss and caress until you’re both extremely overheated. How did you get the inspiration for Whispers On A Scream anddid you have to do a lot of research for it?

Wellthat’s kind of a weird story. I was going for a ride and listening to somemusic when this really old rock song came on and in the time it took for thesong to play I had the basic idea for the novel. So, I raced home and I spentthe next four days typing it out and listening to the song on repeat until Ihad it’s basic structure. Then I took my time going back through it and fillingin the spaces until it felt right.

Asfar as research is concerned I read a lot of paranormal romance and I’ve alwayshad a fascination for wolves and their complex sociological behaviors, likemating for life and living under a dictatorial rule. I just brought a littlehuman nature into it and imagined what might happen. Hint: All hell breaksloose.

What can people expect from Whisper On A Scream?

Ireally hope people don’t expect to sit down and read your run of the millromance. I wanted it to be unpredictable and I want people to fall in love withJack and Sugar the way I did.

Have you a favorite scene or character that you would liketo share with us?

I have fewfavorites but I’ll start you off with one in the beginning.

That's when I saw it, a nail filecaught under the leg of the bed. I struggledto my feet before he could spot what was keeping me down there and triedcrossing my arms. Of course that didn't work either, because I was handcuffedto a fucking headboard. I yanked at it and climbed back onto the bed.

I faced away from him andsteadied my breathing to match his until his snoring started. I edged overuntil the majority of my weight was on my free arm off the side of the bed andswung my leg down. I inched my way higher until I could get a good grip on themetal file and nearly bent it in half trying to pry it from between thecarpeted floor and the metal foot of the bed frame. He coughed and I swalloweda scream. I jumped anyway and ground my teeth, waiting to see if he had wokenup. The snoring continued. I rolled back onto the bed and pulled myself into asitting position so I could reach the cuffed hand with the other. I knew betterthan to try and pick the lock - I had no skill in that - but if I used thecurved end of the cheap metal file and scraped away at the neck of the postwhere the cuff was until I could crack the end of the knob off…I would be free.Of course, I had to accomplish all of this without waking Sleeping Beauty.

I went to work, only scraping tinyamounts of wood off when he snored. Hours passed and the gray light of earlydawn wafted in through the tiny cracks in the curtains. I was more than halfwaythrough my post and, bleeding blisters or not, I would not quit … that was notin my repertoire. He shifted in the hours of late sleep - hisbody was waking up. I sucked in a breath and coughed, yanking my cuff, ripping the heavy knob free along with myright arm. I fumbled for the flying knob, but it went sailing out of reach andbounced hard on the shag carpet. I didn't move except for my eyes and I watchedhis open, blinking sleepily and looking at me with only minor interest and thenhis eyes closed again. He rolled away from me, facing the door to the room andstarted to snore again.

I stood slowly, my cramped musclesscreaming in protest. I don't remember ever being this scared in my entirelife, and I had had plenty of opportunities, but I was out of practiceit seemed. My heart roared blood through my veins until it was the only thing Icould hear. I walked around the front of the bed and he still slept soundlyuntil, of course, I stepped on the broken knob, rolled backwards flat onto myback, kicked over the chair, and tore thecomforter on the way down, in order to catch my fall. I waited for the pain - brokenbones or cracked skull. I was lucky Iwas holding my breath when I fell because all the wind would have been knockedout of me. It took less than a second for him to sit up and find me layingthere on my back with the t-shirt God knows how high on my legs … at least Ihoped it was still that far down.

We all have little quirks when we are writing stories, whatare yours?

Ican’t write with anyone near me. I have to be completely alone. If I’m not, Ispend more time worrying about people trying to read over my shoulder than I doactually writing anything.

Have you got any books coming out soon either with NaughtyNights Press or another publisher and if you do can you share them with us?

Asluck would have it, I do have another book coming out summer of 2012 with thefantastically wonderful Naughty NightsPress. It is the sequel to Whisper On A Scream. It’s titled WillingSacrifice and it is still based around the main character from the first novel,Sugar. It starts where the first book left off and I think after reading thefirst book people will be intrigued to see how the next story begins. I’d loveto tell you more, but I don’t want to ruin the first book for anyone.

When you first started writing were you ever given anyadvice by someone you admire that you now automatically put into action eachtime you write?

Sortof, well it’s kind of a funny story. I used to work in a small high end bookstore when I was in college. One night a woman walked into the store and Iasked if I could help her find anything.

Shesmiled and asked me if I had anymore novels by a certain author.

Iimmediately went into sales mode and went straight to them, explaining that theauthor was originally from the area so she gifted us with a few signed copies.

Shesmiled again and asked me if I’d read any of them.

Igrinned and shrugged, explaining that they really weren’t my kind of books.

Thenshe started to laugh and I realized who I was talking to. Suddenly her hair wasbrighter, her skin more perfect, her smile brilliantly white and I quicklyasked, “You’re her aren’t you?”

Shesmiled again and I stuttered out an awkward apology and she waved it offpulling me into a friendly hug. “Oh honey if I had twenty of you selling mybooks I wouldn’t be able to keep them on the shelves.”

Ilearned something that day, it was one, I’m a complete dimwit in the face of afamous author. Two, if she could do it I sure as hell could and three I reallywanted my own blubbering idiot to try selling me my own books one day.

As a writer, we all set some type of goals, what are yoursand have you surpassed them or still getting there with them?

Beinga writer is kind of like being on a diet. There are small goals and with everysmall success you have to use that as your next foot hold to moving onward andupward. It started with writing the book, then sending it out and actuallyseeing some interest in literary agents just to see if I was wasting my time,then trying to find out what I’m doing wrong when I get 6 requests for my fulland nothing more, then I realized I went wrong with the lit agents and startedsending it directly to publishers. I sent it to only three before I got my letterfrom Naughty Nights Press. I was at work at the time and I had my co-worker alittle nervous when I ran into the back room, slammed the door and startedwhooping and hollering at the top of my lungs. My next step depends on how wellWhisper On A Scream and Willing Sacrifice do. If things go well I’ve alreadybegun the third novel and hopefully it too will see the light of day.

I like kink in my real life and I like reading kinkystories. My interest in BDSM and kink came about because of what I was reading.I remember when the erotic romance craze began, and I loved it. But the samething over and over became a bit repetitive. Wasn't there more to erotic booksthan using shock value verbiage? Then I read Holding the Cards by Joey Hill.Ohhh...my whole outlook changed. I definitely liked the idea of a man chainedup for a woman's pleasure.

For the longest time, I kept my kinky interests a secret. Ienjoyed reading about enslaved men and women surrendering to a strong dominant,but I never tried it. At this point I was confused. Was I dominant or was I asubmissive? It was a learning process. I liked to control, but sometimes Iliked the idea of submitting to a strong man. Yeah, key phrase here: liked theidea. In reality, I wasn't all too good at handing over control. In fact Isucked at it.

Chit Chat and All That! trip down memory lane finale

Well it is Monday once again and I hopeeveryone has had a wonderful week and an even better weekend.

I know you have all been anticipating thearrival of Monday for nothing else, other than the fact that it is CHIT CHATAND ALL THAT! time again *wink*

December12^th 2011, we had the cheeky duo of Casey-Lyn Johnson and SherryTooker, talking about GLBT, Steampunk, Paranormal and Menage and what it isabout it that readers like to read it and how it feels for authors to write it.

They did keep us ingiggles as they went back and forth between each other. They really did giveyou the impression of being a voyeur sitting on the periphery of their conversation.

Kiki Howell and Ana Hart thenspoke to us on December19^th 2011 about Paranormal Creatures and they weren’t talkingabout Vampires and Werewolves either. It was interesting to read about mythicalcreatures and magick, brought back many happy memories.

What better way to wakeup the morning after Christmas Day, 26^thDecember 2011, than with TessaWanton and Dawne Prochilo, discussingthe differences between Mental BDSM and Physical BDSM. There were lots ofbrilliant points made plus the pictures they provided did tend to tease thelibido somewhat.

John it is very lovely to have you hear with us today. Ihope you have enjoyed your holiday season. A little birdie has told me you havebeen gallivanting around the seven seas. Did it give you lots of inspirationfor more stories?

First, thank you for having me here among some of the best authors inthe business. You're birdie was correct. First it was off to the Caribbean for12 nights in December this month, and in January, roundtrip from New York toSouthampton England on the Queen Mary II and return on the Queen Elizabeth. Onthis past cruise I just finished, I wrote two novellas while on board as I doevery cruise. My schedule is to work from the time I get up until noon or oneand then quit for the day. I find watching the water rushing by the ship to bevery relaxing and conducive to good imagination. I always get a balcony cabinfor that reason.

While I am on the subject, how did you get the inspirationfor PAIN AND REVENGE and did you have to do a lot of research for it?

I pulled much of theinformation for the story from personal knowledge on the war that never ends.If the day comes that there are no hot wars anywhere, there will always be awar between the U.S.A. and the former Soviet Union and China. Having beenstationed in England myself, I was able to retell much of the details from myown memory. There are in fact, spanking clubs in a certain section of Londonthat caters to all men. I've also visited the same type of facilities in BerlinGermany late last year.

What can people expect from PAIN AND REVENGE?

Readers can expect awild ride depicting the worlds of spy craft, BDSM, and ultimate victory for oneside. Of course that means the other side looses badly. Along with sex, thereis also a certain level of violence that is pertinent to the story but I triedwhere possible to tell the story while not revealing all of the violence thatreally took place. The reader will get a peek into a work, few have been ableto enter and survive.

Can you envision a sequel to PAIN AND REVENGE and ifso, do you think we would be seeing itsoon or if not, why not?

It is not impossiblethat a sequel may appear in the future, but will be set in a different capitolin Europe. As with all sequels, it also depends on how well the first entry inthe series is welcomed by the reading public. I certainly have no end to thenumber of stories that can be told that follow a certain dynamic that the nowRussian GRU likes to play in. The GRU is really the successor to the KGB.

We all have little quirks when we are writing stories, whatare yours?

I mainly write betweenthe hours of midnight and three a.m. in the morning. It is the time my brain isthe most active and productive and is no doubt a holdover from the days ofbeing a uniform cop when I worked mostly the midnight shift. When I wrote"Irish Winter," I listened to a lot of Irish music through myheadphones that kept me in the mood to tell the story almost as if I were anIrishman myself. Sometimes I like to visit a place that will figure in a bookI'm writing which I did when writing, "Undefeated Love." For thatbook, I flew to Germany, toured the headquarters museum of the SS and paid myrespects at the former concentration camp, Sachsenhausen which is locatedoutside of Berlin. I was able to get a feel for what it was like and listened forthe souls of the tortured to speak to me before I put pen to paper as it were.

Have you got any books coming out soon either with NaughtyNights Press or another publisher and if you do can you share them with us?

I have "The Rent Boy Murders,"on the 19th of December, "Pain and Revenge" in January from NNP,"The Beach House," from Dreamspinner Press, "Night Patrol,"from Silver Publishing, "The Frat House," from Silver Publishing, and"The Hard Streets," from an unknown publisher at this time. I havetwo full novels on the drawing boards and will begin on the first one at theend of January which will be the fourth in "Murder Most Gay," series.

When you first started writing were you ever given anyadvice by someone you admire that you now automatically put into action eachtime you write?

No, I knew no one whowas even peripherally involved in the task of authoring books and stories. Itherefore winged it on my own until a certain publisher took me under theircollective wing and gave critical advice at key times.

As a writer, we all set some type of goals, what are yoursand have you surpassed them or still getting there with them?

My goal as a writer isto write a book that is capable of being considered exceptional in an artisticsense as in the art of writing. The "Great American Novel," is withinme for I feel it sometimes as the pages turn. But bringing it to the surface isanother matter. I was on track with a couple of my books, but was blown off thepath by the winds of chance.

As you know, the GRU is Russia's largest intelligence agencywhich also controls their "Spetsnaz," or Special Forces.

Here'swhat we have on him personally: He is 5'11, 190 pounds of solid muscle. Heworks out four times a week and is deadly when it comes to marshal arts. Brownhair, blue eyes. One more thing, he's gay. He has a preference for males of aslighter build, blond hair, blue eyes, on the submissive side, shorter or astall as him but no taller, and between 145 pounds and 200. So, when all the red hits hard the card stores, candy isles and the front of the lingerie stores, among other places, do you get all giddy or cringe as you hold down your urge to puke? LOL

While many couples in love can’t wait to make romantic plans, there are other people, not all of them single, who for one reason or the other dislike the holiday. If you are in a new relationship, for example, Valentine’s Day can be a LOT of pressure. While each holiday has it’s own set of Scrooges for whatever reasons, I would venture to say that Valentine’s Day has a huge club for them where they are revered. We’ve seen it in enough movies, read it in enough books. The concept of being anti-Valentine’s is surely nothing new.

But, unable to help myself, I goggled anti-Valentine’s Day – hey, I’m a college student and that’s what I do! LOL But, let me tell you I was sorry and happy with the results this time. I got an overwhelming 25,500,000 results. There were interesting products to buy, none of them holding back on the nasty sentiments. There were anti-red holiday songs and poems, YouTube had no lack of examples of hate for all things cupid and hearts either. I mean just shop Amazon for a few seconds for anti-valentine’s or cupid humor. In certain cities there are even anti-valentine’s events at bars and gyms for both men and women.

The articles were amusing to read, at least I thought so. And I’m more of the indifferent type: I mean yeah if I am dating a guy who loves to pull out all the stops, but I’m quite happy to eat a box of self-bought chocolates alone and watch a movie too if it is the case I’m unattached one year. So I guess you are wondering why I bring this all up then? Well, my newest story coming soon from NNP is about a woman who is a bit anti-Valentine’s Day to begin with, and for good reason. Yet the night she gets from a n—strings attached relationship is hot and kinky anyway. And, hey, wait for it, you just may be in for an HEA after all! *winks*

MondayNovember 7^th saw KikiHowell and Kim Faulks discussinghow to strengthen Paranormal Stories.Now who better than these two ladies could we have chosen? They chatted aboutplot lines, characters and who is the more complex character to write about.Not everything they mentioned was agreed upon by the other but they bothprovided valid points for consideration.

Our next Chit Chat and All That! on November14^th had us rolling on the floor laughing as Benjamin Russell and Casey-Lyne Johnson discussed ways of broaching new ideas in the bedroomand Porn, the pros and cons of watching it. Benjamin introduced us to hisvirtual media room and was busy shocking Casey by having Deep Throat with LindaLovelace on at the same time.

I honestly can’t do this Chit Chat a justice by recapping onhere. If you missed this one, you need to go back and read it. Believe me it iswell worth the read and most definitely the laugh, not to mention we found out thatBenjamin feels he needs to beg his SO for what he calls “a half-assed blow job”and that Casey is secretly a Domme wanting to let loose on her SO.

The following week, November21^st, we had two incredible ladies Elizabeth Black and SherryTooker, take us through the differences of Indie publishing, traditional publishingand self publishing. Both Elizabeth and Sherry described their experiences withdifferent types of publishing and what they thought of them. It was a niceclear, refreshing read.

Then on November28^th, Cassandre Dayneand Ray Sostre chatted aboutPolyamory Relationships and if they were something for everyone. I personallyloved this chat as Polyamory is a subject and lifestyle that not enough peopleknow about and the way both Cassandre and Ray presented it, was truly tastefuland informative.

Lastly for this week, we take a look at MondayDecember 5^th with BenjaminRussell (yes he is in his cyber media room once more) and Chrystian Marrero who discuss their ‘Muses’ and where they get ideas forwriting their stories. Again it was an informative, yet quirky chat, with bothof our irresistible men doing their utmost best at making us laugh with themover different ideas and the way their muses enticed them with ideas.

This chat post was visited at the very end by Mistress GinaKincade herself after the boys had been playing with a Ouija board. We think itmight have had something to do with them being a tad on the tardy side in beingprepared that week but you judge for yourself when you read the post.

So there we have oursecond trip down memory lane and what a fun time it was. Next week, we willfinish up our meanderings and then on Monday February 6^th 2012 wewill be presenting our first Chit Chat and All That! for the 2012 season.

Now if that hasn’t been enough to make you weak at the kneesand your heart racing in lustful anticipation, we have also had ouranthologies. A Wicked& Wanton All Hallows Eve made up of erotic horror and thrillers cameout in time for Halloween, what a screaming success it was. We all then wentback to our college years and wrote about those illicit fantasies we had aboutour professors and fellow classmates (all 18+ of course) with Campus Sexploits whereeveryone graduated top of the class. Along came Christmas and we were all eagerto know what Santa was going to bring us, only to find that Santa had us Doing The Naughty List,Twice and it was oh so worth it, with everyone enjoying what they found intheir Christmas stocking or under the Christmas tree.

This month we have John Simpson pushing the boundaries withPain and Revenge, his first release with Naughty Nights Press and surely not hislast. Just what taboos are left in our society? That’s a good question and I think it depends on who you ask as to the answer you’ll receive. For some a taboo might be even fantasizing about another lover while for others it’s the act of engaging in a tryst outside of our relationship. When I determined to write erotic fiction initially my writing style was probably what I’d call a fantasy based style. You know – you want to try something a little out of your comfort zone like a ménage or perhaps having sex in a restaurant or in the back seat of a car like we used

to as kids.

Then I started adding other aspects into the writing including some phases of BDSM and of course to make the stories and situations believable I spent time researching several aspects. When I was doing my research I happened upon several blogs that included different levels of spanking, being a sub or a Dom

with the thought process of living the lifestyle versus playing it (for the lack of a better word). One thing that kept coming up in my research was Domestic Discipline and so I read several blogs mostly written by women who had either just started in the practice or had been in the situation with their husband or significant other for years.

It was fascinating to be when I read the different blogs from different countries that women (and some men too) crave going back to what appears to be a more biblical time. Domestic Discipline is nothing new. Aspects are based in Christianity and if you Google you’ll find the words Domestic Discipline side by side with some Christian organizations. Now the practice doesn’t just involve spanking as always method of discipline as there are other aspects including the removal of certain rights – like watching television or use of the Internet but spanking is usually the traditional method and in reading the pieces from these ladies – they are much happier not

only with themselves but in their relationships as well. I became more and more fascinated because there are organizations that insist more couples are getting back into this type of lifestyle. I still think it’s a taboo situation to write simply because so many women want to feel empowered and I think for some the practice brings even some anger.

So I decided not too long ago to take a spin at writing a piece to see how it went over. This is as much I think a taboo as wanting or craving to be a sub or to have group sex. It’s also a fantasy for many couples and every time I post something about the DD lifestyle I hear many comments. What I found interesting lately is that there are many people who didn’t know this existed and so they ask the question about what it is. Explaining the situation to them is very interesting to see their reactions.

You might ask the question - how can that be a true fantasy but for some women and even some men it simply is. Some people crave the knowledge and understanding of what some call the old style of living. Meaning – discipline isn’t a new subject and in truth for years children were taken in hand and spanked. I know I was as a child when I was really bad but now a days, dear God you spank your kid for misbehaving and you’re going to be put in jail potentially. That’s just wrong. There’s no amount of telling kids you can’t watch this television show or have your iPod back until your grades improve that are going to make anything any better. A series of swats along the backside just might do it.

Is domestic discipline any different? Now really except that adults tend to truly understand what the ramifications of acting out are. They readily except almost in a contract type situation that if they don’t follow the rules there will be consequences and even some have been known to misbehave on purpose because they crave the release a solid spanking can give them. I’m not religious but I equate this to being Catholic and confessing your sins. After you tell the Priest everything you did wrong from eating too many calories to thinking lurid thoughts you feel better somehow.

In the majority of DD situations rules are laid out and a practice is set in motion. For many this means that maintenance spankings will be given. And of course these are set for a period of time. Before you ask everything from the hand to belts are used and this isn’t about being a sadist but about talking and learning and loving. I’ve also heard for those who are involved feel such a sense of love and pride that their relationship is very strong.

I think for a lot of these situations it’s the anticipation of what’s going to happen that is also a turn on in certain ways. I’ve read on these blogs that many couples find their sex lives so much better than what they had before because the tension level is different or absent altogether. That leads to something shared. What I’ve learned is that in these situations its often the woman who is asking to enter into this lifestyle. They are concerned about their relationships and trying to figure out what to do. They’ve either read or heard from a friend that this is something that works and they begin reading about it. There’s plenty out there if you’re curious. But I guess you have to ask the question – what’s so wrong with this is everything else doesn’t work? What’s wrong with being closer in some ways? I don’t know. It’s tough for us to think about but it’s out there like other unconventional relationships.

In my piece our heroine asks her husband to consider because they’ve tried everything else including counseling. He of course is shocked – and a lot of men are – and yet curious. This isn’t something you just jump into like BDSM isn’t. I think if you consider you really have to read and understand what’s going to happen and I’ve read many couples are still learning and changing and sometimes uncomfortable about the lifestyle. Many refuse to tell friends or family for obvious reasons.

Of course the lifestyle isn’t for everyone and for those even thinking about doing something like this you really need to talk to each other and figure out how you want to handle it. Sometimes this gets to be more of a HOH or Head of Household situation in which usually the man then handles everything from finances to decisions made about pretty much everything but often DD is something else.

Along with the taboo situation of course it’s a bit tarnished. I don’t know too many people who would openly admit to another they want to engage in something like this. Can you imagine telling your best girlfriend that you want your husband to spank you on a regular basis? From doing research though I can tell you its more common than you realize. Maybe it’s based on the need to get back to stronger family units. Divorce continues to skyrocket and couples are really looking for a way to become closer.

I write a lot about passion and romance but so many couples lose track of what matters to them. That’s really sad. Is this the answer for everyone? Of course not but it is a viable method of achieving what we all want to have in our homes – harmony. Would I do it? I don’t know. But it’s fascinating to learn about what alternative methods of love and lust and families and relationships are out there. I hope this has given you some food for thought.

Chit Chat and All That! A Trip Down Memory Lane

Good morning or good evening depending on your time zone andwelcome to the best and funny bits of Chit Chat and All That!

Sit back with your beverage of choice and take a trip down memory lane with us at Naughty Nights Press.

Our inaugural Chit Chat and All That!, appeared on our Mondaymorning blog October 3^rd 2011 with Raymond Frazee and TessaWanton talking about how to introduce someone to a D/s lifestyle when eitherone or both have no experience and what is the best way to entice your partnerinto trying something new.

They explained a lot about keeping an open mind, broaching asubject carefully and I do believe there was a fair amount of flirting betweenour Mr. Frazee and Ms Wanton in between times.

All in all we ended up with one terrific inaugural Chit Chatand All That! post, that broke the ice so to speak of things to come.

Our next pair of ChitChatters on October 10^th 2011 was Dawne Prochilo and Ken Charleswho tackled the very hard subject of Vanilla Sex in the 21^st Century.

They took us through from the times of twin beds and theMissionary Position, is it really a “Vanilla” position or do we just think itis, to Adding Enhancements into your sex play.

October 24^th 2011 saw us with our first ChitChat and All That! Ménage à trois. We had Julez S. Morbius, writer of transgender erotica, Pablo Michaels,writer of gay male fiction and married to his partner for a number of years andSharita Lira, the woman behind BL Morticia, talking about the Similarities andDifferences between Straight and Gay Relationships in Fiction and Real Life.

This truly was a very deep discussion but one that left younodding your head in agreement with what they were saying. They spoke aboutmaking sure their characters real and their situations believable, which whenyou are writing outside of your comfort zone can be a rewarding challenge. Theytalked about how perception of others can hinder or help someone in the GLBTworkforce with Pablo explaining how he coped when he first came out and was working. Truly worth another read people,just to remind ourselves that regardless of our sexual orientation we are stillhuman.

We went on hiatus for a week due to some terrific partyingand blog hopping and the release of our first anthology A Wicked & WantonAll Hallows Eve but Chit Chat and All That! started back up again on November 7^th2011 and that is where we will continue from next week on Chit Chat and AllThat!

I like the wanting more partactually, I think it is a mark of a great short to leave the reader panting, desperatefor more by this author or in the genre, etc. But I don’t only like to readanthologies, I love writing for them.

Early on in my career I would browse through calls forsubmission and find myself overwhelmed with ideas for the various calls foranthologies. Just reading the little blurbs about the what the publisher waslooking for toward a particular theme would just get my imagination going.Having a story accepted into an anthology, well that was all the morethrilling, to get to see my name and story title beside those of otherfantastic authors. I looked forward to the release days so much just so I couldread all the stories mine got included among.

Allow me to reminisce a minute because this topic takes meback to one of the first anthologies I was in. It was no easy feat, came withits ups and downs and a ton of hard work too, but was well worth it. I’d subbedmy short, “To Save A Witch,” a dark story where a frustrated witch meets up witha ghost of her past life, to an anthology called Focus: Highlighting thePower of the Short Story. Guess I should have been more intimidated by thetitle. LOL Anyway, I didn’t get back a rejection or an acceptance, but more achallenge. The editor said that he had shared my story with someone who hadbeen in the business for years, and they both agreed that the story needed alot of work but that they saw a writer with great potential. I was thrilled,and I worked my little fingers off on six rounds of rewrites until the editoraccepted the story. So you would think I would have soured toward anthologies,but no, I was fueled to keep writing for them. And I will never forget thatfirst review of the anthology either which said, “Every boxing champion knows that knockouts come from short, powerfulpunches that land with expolosive impact. So does editor/anthologist Kev Henleyand the immensely talented authors of these 17 widely diverse but universelygripping short stories.” Now who wouldn’t be thrilled to be part of that?

Looks like I have been in eight anthologies to date now withtwo personal anthologies as well. So cool! And I am thrilled that this comingyear I will be in many more with NaughtyNights Press. Mistress Gina, my BossLady, comes up with some great, naughtythemes. So many that I can barely keep up with the spinning wheels in my mind.In fact, I may even take on a few challenges again, write stories for a fewnaughtier themed anthologies, go outside of my comfort zone and see whathappens. Who knows, right?

Let me remind you of a favorite of mine as a paranormalerotic author here at NNP. I’m one to celebrate the greatness of Halloween allyear round anyway.

The other morning Raymond and I got up early on a Sunday noless to have an actual Facebook chat on the subject we’d been assigned whichwas fetishes. It went something like this…

Raymond Frazee:Yes, I saw that. Congratulations! I just sold a story to NNP as well.

Abby Hayes:Thanks! Trying not to hyperventilate and figure out what to do first! LOL And,congrats back! When will it come out? Is it fetish related since that is ourtopic?

Raymond Frazee: It'sa short story, about 10,000 words. And, yes . . . it’s heavy BDSM fantasy.

Abby Hayes: Ohcool. Our chit chat topic is Fetishes - What we like, what we dislike. What weenjoy writing about. What we would like to try in real life or in our stories.

Raymond Frazee: Sorry,but my computer decided to restart.

Abby Hayes: Noproblem. Gave me a chance to refill my coffee. So, want to throw out a first question,or statement or something? *yawns and sips coffee*

Raymond Frazee: Wellthen, first, let me ask: What are YOUR fantasies?

Abby Hayes: Ohboy! Don't hold back! *giggles* Alright, let me see, where to begin? I havefound in reading that I have a thing for M/F/M, and that I could go either wayas to who controls that situation *winks* Since I’m still a bit sleepy, let methrow the ame question back at you, what are your fantasies, Raymond?

Raymond Frazee: Oh,now we're getting into some crazy stuff. I have a huge sci fi background, andso I often go into the fantastic when it comes to fantasies. I love bondage. Ilove BDSM. But I also like fantasies that are "fantasies", thingsthat really can exist outside the realm of what we would see as real. I alsotend to relate to women more than me, so when I write it tends to be far morefemale dominated than having a simple F/M structure. Not to say I don't enjoy a"normal" fantasy. Trust me, I do.

Abby Hayes: Ilove the fantastic with the fantasy! Although I've never tried to write it, Idid have my character in "Finding Paradise" reading a vampire eroticbook *winks* Let me ask you out of curiosity, do you draw a line between sci-fiand paranormal as far as your fantasies go? This is a what type of charactersin what positions type question LOL

Raymond Frazee: That'sinteresting you ask. I grew up reading "hard" sci fi (this was in the1960's, 1970's), and so I have developed that demarcation about what I think issci fi and what is fantasy. But now, when we talk about fantasies like we'rediscussing, I don't make much of a distinction. I mean, if you bring magic intoa modern erotic story, is it fantasy, or is it paranormal? Or does it matter,because, at heart, it's still erotica.

Abby Hayes: Verytrue! Let me ask then, what type of character is your favorite to write orfantasize about? And what fetish would you have them participating in? Youmentioned BDSM, but along what lines?

Raymond Frazee: Ihave one idea I'm trying to develop now: it deals with a woman doctor whodevelops intuitive nanomachines that can restructure material on demand.Unfortunately for her, they get into her body, and she finds herself at theirmercy, sort of becoming a "fantasy girl" for sorts for people whofeed ideas to machines.

It brings into play elements I like: smart, sexy women; finding yourself in asort of "I'm not in control" situation; some BDSM (after all, she'ssort of a slave to the desires of others); and a lot of strange things thatcould happen.

Abby Hayes: Wow!That sounds really hot! I like a smart and sexy girl too, sometimes in controlover a couple of tough guys, and one who knows when she wants to submit aswell. A slave to desires. I like usingthis type of woman in writing because it gives me such freedom to let thecharacter just go into places where as the writer I haven't even thought ofyet. In my story, Finding Paradise, I didn't imagine F/F but my character didwhen I was writing it! LOL So I went with it, and it turned out a nice dressingroom scene.

RaymondFrazee: I do a lot of F/F, but it's not because I'm a guy who loves seeinglesbians. <S> I find it easier to write women, and I find it very easy towrite intelligent, strong women. I just finish a novel for NaNoWriMo where thecharacters were a woman who finds herself in the body of a powerful sorceress;a succubus; a hermaphrodite who looks female; and the sorceress' lesbianvampire love. It's quite the group.

Abby Hayes: Iguess! I would love reading a story like that. I just hadn't thought ofincluding F/F in my story, but once it got started, the first hint of it, oncethey touched, tasted a little, I found the spanking element to be reallysteamy, especially when it took place the second time in front of the oneladies husband. I like to mess with power plays, and asorceress/succubus/vampire mix would really incorporate that power element.

Raymond Frazee: Mystory isn't erotica, per say, but it has the elements for it. A succubuswouldn't care who she's with, by the way. And think of the things she couldbring to a party.

Abby Hayes: Ohyeah! So now that we have discussed what we like a bit, is there a fetish youdislike, one you wouldn't write and why?

Raymond Frazee: It'sfunny, but I'm finding a lot of the "Dom/sub" relationships to be abit boring. The whole, "get naked and kneel" line is . . . well,wanting. I don't care for the idea of keeping someone like an animal. For somereason that really rubs me wrong.

Abby Hayes: I canunderstand that if that’s the way they were actually treated. I think I haveheld back from heavier BDSM so far just because I don't think I have theknowledge base to write it well. My stories up till now have just been what hasbeen in my mind to want to try, and experimenting first with my characters.*winks*

Raymond Frazee: Whatparticular thing don't you like?

Abby Hayes: I'm aperson honestly who fears pain, so much so that I even when I was young wouldshy away from certain situations just for fear of getting hurt. I'm nodaredevil. So I think the heavier BDSM, where more intense pain is used forpleasure, I couldn't write because I in a way couldn't put myself even in myimagination in that position. I have read heavier pieces and while I loved thestories, especially the intensity of them, I would still find myself inwardlycringing to some degree. It just lets me know I couldn't pull off writing it,not well anyway. Funny, I can pretty much read or watch anything (YV I mean*winks*) but I think I am quicker to doubt myself in writing it and maybe it isjust that I'm new to writing erotica, as I have just been of age to read it fora few years now LOL.

Raymond Frazee: Idon't get into pain, either. The story I just sold, there was doublepenetration and the use of gags and clover clamps, but the hard pain . . . Ithink, in terms of BDSM, it's more challenging to go with mentalconditioning--and punishment.

Abby Hayes: Inwriting erotica, especially fantasies, it is really easy to let your mind gointo places your body in real life hasn't. But then, if you can't imagine it oreven completely understand it, there are places even the imagination won't takeyou. Although, I have to admit that I have this curiosity to see where otherimaginations take them - always been the horror movie type - and I find thesame with erotica that I pick up books I couldn't write just to see where thatwriter was able to go. The situations I encounter might make me squirm, but Ithink I like being forced outside the 'norm' wherever that line falls.

Raymond Frazee: Onestory I read, many years ago, was some fetish fiction I found on the Internet.The story involved a woman who found this fetish outfit--corset, leather operagloves, and thigh high boots with 5 inch heels--and she found she could"lock" them onto her body and they'd literally become part of her, soshe could wear them as long as she liked without issue.

Of course, what ends up happening is that they get locked onto her with no wayof being removed, and she has to deal with how to exist in a "normal"world while you're constantly attired in something that should be in a fetishmagazine.

I've always wanted to write that part of the story, when you deal with that wayof life.

Abby Hayes: Beingtrapped, always pushed beyond your limits I would assume - yes that would befun and interesting to write. That is the thing with fetishes, no matter whatthey are, that they keep pushing us, at least I think. We grow, go to thelimits of pleasure and back, learn about ourselves in ways we can't in thepublic world.

Raymond Frazee: Andthat leads me to ask--what sort of fetishes do you have?

Abby Hayes: Ah,real life huh? Wow, might have to leave that to the readers imagination as with"Finding Paradise" I will say I fall somewhere in the middle of whathappens in that story. I'm young and not sure yet how much of what I want thatI will ask for. How's that for an evasive answer? So you mentioned theseventies and obviously we are in different age brackets, though I have no ideawhat age you actually are, so I'm curious to see how you would answer the samequestion. I think some people think the young, the college aged are wild, andyes we experiment, but then everything is new to us. It is my assumption thatwith age comes more knowledge and more freedom. Am I right or wrong do youthink?

Raymond Frazee: Oh,the age thing . . . I'm going to be 55 in May, and while I might have moreknowledge, getting the freedom to do those things is hard. I've run into anumber of issues finding partners who enjoy the same things, and it can be aserious pain in the butt to live out those fantasies.

I have to admit to having clothing fetishes: shoes and boots for women, thetype of outfits they wear, etc. I am attracted to supernatural women--goodthing you're not a vampire. <S>

Abby Hayes: LMAO!No, no vampire! But, I do like to dress up and live out fantasies that way. Ido own the leather boots that go over the knees with stile do heels,corrections officer to a boxing girl fantasy costumes. My current boyfriendloves that stuff and it seems to be growing in the back of my closest! LOL Ithink we are in the age of vampires, and have mentioned to my boyfriend aboutgetting a costume for him. We are on the same page there.

Raymond Frazee: See,you have the sort of "things" I would love. I do love thigh highboots . . . I'd probably want you in them for a week. <S>

And the vampire thing; yes, all over the place. Too all overthe place in some ways. I love the idea of dangerous women in that way: sexybut powerful and able to take you apart if you aren't careful

Abby Hayes: Weare back to the power play again - seems we definitely have that in common.*winks*

Fantasies We Know, Love and Want

There’s a problem with real life: it’s always too real. We get up, we work, we eat, we return home,we sleep—

And some of us find time to have sex. But what kind? Something normal, vanilla—safe? Or are we talking about something that mightbe considered illegal in have the states in

America

Some people have good imaginations; some have betterimaginations; some have great imaginations. When it comes to sex, when it comes to the sensual and erotic, what dowe like? What makes us happy? What drives us to moments of extreme desire?

Who knows? That theway fantasies are: they are meant to be what touches us in way unknown toothers. There are a few rules that Ifeel can be attributed to fantasies, however:

1. No Two People Seem to Have the SameFantasies.

I’ve spoken with a few writers of erotica—as well as a fewothers with varying backgrounds—and it become evident that trying to findpeople who are into the same things fantasy-wise is, at best, a difficult proposition.

For example, when speaking with Abby it turned out she lovesthe idea of M/F/M situations, and whoever is in control is left pretty much upin the air. For a lot of people athree-some is a hot proposition; a lot of women enjoy the idea of having twomen at the same time, and a lot of guys love the idea of having two women—and,in both cases, if they’re bi-sexual, so much the better.

It’s a great fantasy: it’s one I would have a hard timewith, however.

Now, don’t get me wrong; I don’t have a problem with Abby’sfantasy. For me it’s a personal issue,because the moment I’d start thinking about it, I’d have to think about how I’dmeasure up with said women (yes, it would be two women), and then performancewould come into play . . . it’s a mess because I’m a mess and I’d make a messof such a thing.

That said . . . it once almost happened to me. Once, when I was getting my hair permed—itwas 1976 and in those days I sported a Jeff Lynne-sized afro—the person doingmy hair, a cute 25 year old woman (she told me her age at one point) startedhitting on me. Not only that, but hermentor—a woman who was probably in her early 30’s—started hitting on me aswell. This was a pretty good thing formy ego, because at that time I wasn’t dating, I wasn’t seeing anyone, and tohave two women flirting with me . . . it was good for the soul.

Without making this sound like a porn movie, before it wasall over I was propositioned: they both wanted to know if I would be interestedin meeting them later. While I wastotally cool with the “meeting” part, the location presented problem, as theywanted to meet up at a dance club—or, as was then, the local disco. I thanked them before dropping the bomb: Icouldn’t meet with them because I was only 19 and I wouldn’t be able to getinto the club.

Needless to say their fantasy of meeting up at the discocrashed and burned right then and there, and both women got those embarrassedlooks that said they thought I was an older guy. Apparently whatever fantasies they had ofspending a great night with a guy didn’t extend said guy being a teenager. Such is my life.

2. Even When You Share The Same Fantasies WithOthers, the Intensity of Said Fantasies Almost Never Equal.

There was a time when I wrote a lot of fetish fiction forcertain Internet sites. Most of saidfiction dealt a little with fetish wear—boots, corsets, and lots of latex—andobjectification that revolved for the most part around Agalmatophilia, akasexual attraction to dolls, mannequins, statues, and the like.

Why did I write this stuff? Because it was something I could write about. And there was an audience. Since I was interested in writing, Idid. And, for the most part, it wasenjoyable.

However, I did learn a lot about how different people getinto their fantasies—

There were a few of my “fans” I started speaking with, andin time I became friendly with them. Conversing with them and talking about what people liked, what they didn’t,it was an interesting time.

However, there were a couple of people . . . after a while,it became obvious that their fantasies, they fetishes, they were sometimes sooverwhelming that was a bit annoying. Oneguy I knew was so into women as dolls that I got the impression that hecouldn’t actually relate to a real woman—in fact, I met two women he knewonline, and both only seemed like they could relate to him because they sowanted to be the doll he desired.

And there was one woman I knew, she would berate me if, whenI wrote, there wasn’t enough latex in the story—because that was what got heroff the most. The story could touchevery button she had, but if there wasn’t enough latex being worn, she’d fireoff a nasty note and tell me how unhappy she was that I wasn’t keeping herhappy.

If you can find a person who shares in your vision, in yourimagination, in your fantasies, then you are a lucky individual. But even after you find that person—be it awriter, a friend, a lover—don’t be surprised if they decide to kick things upto 11 and bring it on a little stronger.

3. No Matter How Out There You Thing Your FantasiesAre, Someone Will Surprise You.

When Abby and I were speaking I brought up the fact that Ihave a lot of fantasies that have a lot of, well, fantastic elements tothem. Part of that is due to havinggrown up reading a lot of science fiction; part of that is due to just somethings I would love to see and do. Andpart of it is due to have a very active imagination.

I have a friend, however, a woman I’ve known for a fewyears. One day we were talking about“things”, and all of a sudden she started telling me about things that sheenjoyed, things that she did when she was younger . . . and then she surprisedme with a statement I thought I’d never hear from her:

“I’ve been with women, and while I like them, I also loveguys. What I need is a guy who can be awoman for me. That would be perfect.”

That was her fantasy, and as we talked more it turned outwas she wasn’t looking for was a guy who just like dressing up and such—oh,no. She wanted a guy who could be hergirl, who was comfortable enough to let his feminine side out. She was pretty forthright about how finding aguy who could do that for her would be the one thing that would make her lifecomplete.

It was like a woman I knew some 20 years ago when I wasstill working in Chicago. She once showed up to work wearing tight highboots under a long skirt, and she just had to show me because she knew I loved that sort of stuff. (Oh, yeah, we talked about it.) She showed them to me while we were out tolunch, and it was during that lunch that she admitted that every time she woreboots while having sex she’d have incredible orgasms. She didn’t know why: she didn’t have a fetishabout it—or at least she didn’t know if she did—but she said that all her bestorgasms came when she wore boots. Heronly problem: her boyfriend was getting tied of her wearing them. “I got only boyfriend in all of Chicago whodoesn’t like to do his girl while she’s wearing those,” she complained. “What the fuck is wrong with this guy?”

The problem is this: we all have our fantasies. We all like something particular, and that’snot always going to mesh up with what another person likes, or even fantasizesfrom time to time, about.

The cruel fact is we often fantasize alone. We have something we enjoy and then we pairup with someone and, while everything is great and you have a truly goodrelationship, there’s always that littlesomething that’s missing . . . and don’t you know it, your partner just ain’tinto that. It happens all the time—oh,boy, do I know that from personal experience—and then we look for it out in theInternet, in the published world, in video . . . just something to give us thatwarm feeling that, yes, someone understands me.

But there is another facet to this, and it’s good for us whowrite. And it’s this: it don’t matterwhat we write about in terms of fantasies, ‘cause there are billions of peopleout there, and eventually someone is going to find your work, and they aregoing to feel touched.

And don’t we all have a fantasy about being touched?

Don’t answer that.
