Aussie Authors, American Publishing World

It's a challenge. There are more differences than you realise between Australia and America. I've been navigating those differences for a couple years now and I still trip over at times. Particularly since I do a lot of writing for stories and for university.
I'm actually over at the Mocha Milieu with fellow Aussie Naughty Nights Press author Sherry Tooker on the 14th at 8:30EST (15th from 10:30am for my fellow Australians) discussing some of these difficulties that we come across regularly. We'll also be sharing tidbits from our writing, and sharing some pictures so come on over and join in on the conversation. You might even win some prizes!
In the meantime, I have some exciting news. Persephone, my paranormal fantasy novel, has just been offered a contract with Naughty Nights Press. I'm in the process of writing up the blurb and shortened synopsis before I return the signed contract, but I'm very pleased that Persephone has found a home with NNP. I'm so excited to get her primped and preened and ready to present to the world! How about a little taste? (Note: Temporary blurb!)
Persephone is a young woman living a hard life, betrothed to a man she doesn't love and serving a family who doesn't see her as one of them. She has been assaulted, accused of being a witch, her true love killed and now she's on the run with the man who has always treated her like a real daughter. She's scared, hurt and confused, but leaving her childhood home is only the start of her journey. What will she find at the end of the road? What secrets will be revealed as she tries to figure out who she is? Will she ever find love again?
He moved his hands up her arms to rest on her shoulders and shifted closer. She thought that if she was to take a deep breath, her breasts would brush his chest, something she wasn’t sure was such a good idea with her body acting as it was. She opened her mouth to say something, though the thought wasn’t fully formed, and he boldly moved in for a kiss. She stiffened momentarily, but then melted against his chest, her arms snaking around his waist to pull him even closer.
Her body was on fire. Closing her eyes, she drifted on the sensation, returning his kiss with gentle passion. Adrian cupped her sore cheek tenderly, placing his other hand on her back. Persephone was in rhapsody. She’d been on chaperoned dates with the Mayor’s son, and he’d attempted to kiss her, clumsily fondling her body as his slurped over her mouth unpleasantly. Those experiences had seen an end to sexual desire before it even really began. But sharing this kiss with Adrian awoke in her a beast of sexual heat, hungry and desperate for satisfaction.
This is crazy, she thought. I barely know this man, I shouldn’t be kissing him! Pulling away from him, she tried to catch a breath as disappointment flooded her.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I don’t know what came over me.” She shook her head, hand covering her mouth as though to trap the sensation of the kiss. “That’s fine, I – I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it.”
Phoenix Johnson is an Australian author who has always had the passion for the written word. She had her nose in at least one book ever since she could read and would even scrutinize the back of the cereal box every morning at breakfast. It was only natural she take up writing.
After reviewing a few delicious titles for Naughty Nights Press as she wrote her first title, The Wolf in the Neighborhood, Phoenix was of one mind to submit it to NNP, and she hasn't looked back. The Return of Their Master now joins her first title for sale, and both books are receiving great reviews. Phoenix feels that being invited to write for the NNP blog is a great honour, and loves being part of the team!
You can get in touch with Phoenix on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr or view her website here, or buy her books direct from Naughty Nights Press, or other good ebook distributors.
